SALISBURY-WICOMICO COUNTY: SUCCESS STARTS HERE
Salisbury-Wicomico Economic Development recently launched its new website and the first of a series of two-minute videos showcasing why the Salisbury-Wicomico County region is a great place for business and living.
“Marketing our community and telling our story is critical to economic development. This new website and video convey the pride we have in our special community that we recognize and invite others to explore,” stated Jake Day, Mayor of Salisbury.
The redesigned site illustrates the story of partnership by highlighting success stories from companies that have started, grown or relocated to the area.
“Wicomico is Open for Business and this redesigned website, along with an introductory video, helps communicate that message as well as the strength of our community,” said Wicomico County Executive Bob Culver.
Salisbury-Wicomico Economic Development, Inc. is a public-private partnership founded in 1968 to enhance the area’s economy through job retention, job growth and economic diversification. Visit the new website atwww.swed.org.

Come to Salisbury. Open a bar or restaurant and pray you stay in business for more than 3 yrs. Pay off some politicians to gain your interests and or get string out on dope and get robbed. But no fear... The cops will show up to write a report and ask Walmart or the citizens to solve the crime.
Marketing "trumps" actually making improvements - the Liberal Democrat way
Revitalization of downtown will not be achieved! The leadership of Salisbury and select business people are a detriment to growth of the downtown. Attempts have been made, but have not amounted to anything. This is a lost cause and a waste of money.
Wow, the negativity is astounding. If there's one thing we should all look at is the possibilities.
Salisbury and Wicomico County are a short ride to the ocean. Salisbury has a River running through the Downtown and a River Walk on both sides. The possibilities are endless with the proper vision.
Unfortunately over the past two decades you have chosen extremely poor leadership. It takes a tremendous amount of money to recreate. Funds have to be raised by outside sources. However, there needs to be a Master Plan to sell such investors. Unfortunately, only bandaids have been applied rather then cures.
In my honest opinion, Salisbury and Wicomico County could strive in so many ways. Executive Culver and the County Council have partially agreed on their own Economic Development Division and that is a major step in the right direction.
So all of you know, there are some great things coming for Wicomico County. I have not been given the go ahead on some of these things as of yet but they are secure and once we do get the go ahead we will publish that information immediately.
The political will has to be there. Unfortunately we have people like John Cannon who is putting up road blocks on just about everything Culver presents.
Perhaps the County Executive needs to have his own Town Hall Meetings to share his visions and see what the public thinks about the direction he is heading in, or at least attempting to head.
Culver needs to communicate with the people. He started off doing that, but doesn't anymore. i'd like to know what he is doing. All that we hear about is the negativity coming from the council pushing back on him. Culver needs to be more proactive in sharing his ideas and vision with "we the people". We can't support or help him if we don't know what he is trying to do.
Who are these dopes talking about how "the beach is right here?" There is no beach in Wicomico County and it's foolish to advertise that this is true. Coattail-riding hucksters is what they are.
Since I believe you will see Section 8 housing downtown revitalization is impossible. Why not put the Social Security Office, Welfare Department, & unemployment office downtown along with the section 8 housing. One stop shopping for all the government takers who mooch off the tax payers.
down town is dead. How many years and new studies do we need to prove that. I am surprised dave ryan still has a job. I figured culver would have fixed that.
Spend, spend, spend just to keep people in high paying jobs with no results.
