Illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in the United States, providing they have been in the country for a long time and are not criminals, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday TV show.
Rubio’s ultimate solution to the problem with illegal immigration hasn’t changed since he first pursued the “Gang of Eight” immigration reform bill in the Senate.
Although he doesn’t campaign on the idea, the Florida senator still believes that someday, if the border is secure, illegal immigrants who have been in the country for a long period of time could earn conditional residency once the border was finally secured.
Rubio insists that he learned after the failed effort to pass immigration reform with the help of Democrats, and now argues that a comprehensive approach to immigration reform would never work.
Earlier this month, Rubio argued that he was the best candidate in the presidential race to solve the problem of illegal immigration.

Once again, this smacks in the face of every person in America who went through the appropriate channels to secure citizenship. This alone, dashes him off my list as someone who is ready to lead this country out of the quagmire it's become with the recent administrations - including Bush.
Rubio is now nixed in my book, permanently. This is ginning for the illegal vote and that is a practice Americans should not reward nor tolerate.
Kinda makes him a RINO or a dumbocrat!
What part of Illegal Immigrant don't you understand, Rubio? The very fact they exist here without gaining citizenship through their own efforts under our laws makes them citizens of other countries, and they need to be deported.
Then, if they wish to apply for and study towards U.S. Citizenship, they have rules to follow!
Why is this such a difficult concept?
Just made my decision easier, Marco. Thought you wised up; see you didn't. Should have chosen to stand for re-election where you could be of occasional use.
