Nation School Counselor Week

National School Counseling Week will be celebrated from February 1 to February 5. This year’s theme is “School Counseling the Recipe for Success.”

Westover, Maryland- January 29, 2016-

“National School Counseling Week 2016, "School Counseling: The Recipe for Success,” will be celebrated from February 1-5, 2016, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of professional school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. National School Counseling Week is always celebrated the first full week in February.

“This special week honors school counselors for the important role they play in helping students examine their talents, strengths, abilities, and interests. Counselors work in professional partnerships with teachers and support personnel to provide an educational system where students can realize their true potential. As all educators focus their efforts on improving academic achievement for all students, it is important that we recognize school counselors for their continuing efforts in reducing barriers to learning and in providing the support necessary for all students to achieve at the highest level.”

Faith Daum serves as a school counselor at Crisfield Academy and High School. Her principal Chantal Russum wrote about her stating, “Mrs. Daum is a very important part of CAHS, she does a wonderful job helping students make valuable decisions about their future. She spends a great deal of time assisting students with college applications, financial aid, and scholarships. She is part of the leadership team at CAHS.”
