Maryland Voter Alliance New Voting Legislation

ROCKVILLE, MD – The Maryland Voter Alliance, a voter integrity organization dedicated to ensuring fraud-free elections for all Americans, announces today that The Montgomery County Delegation to the General Assembly will hold a hearing on Friday, January 29, 2016, to discuss MC 25-16, proposed legislation that would amend the Maryland Constitution to provide the Montgomery County Council and the Montgomery County Board of Education the authority to register non-citizens and children (16 and 17 years old) to vote in State Board of Education elections.

Set to take place on January 29, 2016, immediately following the House Floor Session in Room 218, Lowe House Office Building in Annapolis, Maryland, the hearing will focus on the details of this proposed legislation, which will be voted on by County Residents.

The potential impacts of this new legislation, if it is passed and signed into law, are significant and far-reaching. In particular, the ability to place additional responsibility and authority in the State Board of Elections, to determine voter eligibility and make additions to the voter rolls.

Central to the concerns for the implications of this proposed change to the Maryland State
