Dan Haggerty, best known for his role in "The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams," died Friday morning, his close friend and manager told FOX411. He was 74.
The '70s star died of cancer surrounded by his kids, his manager told us. Haggerty had been battling cancer.
"He had cancer and had been fighting... and he had a great Thanksgiving and a great Christmas, and he died with his kids around him and people who love him," his manager, Terry Bomar, said.
Bomar added he spoke to the star yesterday on the phone.

So sad he was a favorite of mine as a kid.
Ben the Bear died in 1990 at 15 from a heart attack while hibernating. Bart the Bear (the cub), died in 2000 of cancer.
Joe, did you have anything about the passing of great British actor Alan Rickman yesterday? Like Bowie, from cancer and only 69. My kids are crying about the death of the real Professor Snape.
What a loss of the these nice people. I wish the good Lord would leave them with us and take nasty people instead. Enjoyed Bowie, Rickman and Hagerty, all 3. They brought joy and were good people outside of their work, helping others.
