The Anne Arundel County state's attorney is investigating former Gov. Martin O'Malley's discounted, tax-free purchase last year of taxpayer-owned furniture from the governor's mansion in Annapolis.
The probe began shortly after a Baltimore Sun investigation found in September that the Democratic presidential candidate paid $9,638 for 54 mansion furnishings that originally cost taxpayers $62,000. The discounted sale was authorized by outgoing O'Malley administration officials after each item had been classified as "junk."
Most of the furnishings now adorn the O'Malleys' $549,000 home in Baltimore's Homeland neighborhood.
O'Malley officials and state Democrats said Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Wes Adams' investigation is politically motivated.

he is such a piece of garbage. i wish his house would burn down (empty of course)
Lol I hope he gets arrested, what's with democRATS stealing stuff like the thugs in Baltimore riots?????
As if they would have bought "junk" to put in their $549,000 house...yeah right.
The taxpayers deserved the same opportunity to purchase that "junk" furniture at yard sale prices, like they did. I'd like to see photos of the items. I bet none of it was truly "junk", and they just picked out whatever the hell they wanted to keep, and had one of their staff members write up the "sale".
Just like the Clintons looted the White House when they left. Grab everything you can and go. Guess O'Malley wants to be like them. Sets a fine example for everyone, doesn't it?
You can't just throw away or directly purchase property of the state just because it is considered junk.
Even broken items have to be submitted to the state and then they will list it on Govdeals for one month to see if anyone will buy the items.
If no one buys the items then it can be disposed of. At that point someone would have the option of taking the item or throwing it away.
State employees are not allowed to just buy items that are deemed to be no longer needed or broken without the items going through the process I mentioned. The Governor as a State Employee should have to play by the same rules as the rest.
I highly doubt that all the furniture that was listed as Junk was put up for auction on govdeals before O'Malley purchased them.
It's the taxpayers furniture.
What's with Democrats taking the furniture when leaving office? The Clintons did the same thing when they left the white house in 2001.
Is it an entitlement thing?
Not only did he steal the furniture for pennies on the dollar he didn't pay taxes on it either!!! The tax many doesn't pay taxes. Unbelieveable!
the omalley way is to take what you want and tax all others to pay for it.
He should have been much smarter and honest than this. But that says something about his intelligence and his moral character, doesn't it?
Just the kind of crap that the Clintons pulled when leaving the White House, and we're really sure about their moral character, or lack thereof.
Please hurry prosecutors to convict O'malley before he becomes Hillary's vice president. We don't want two crooks in the white house.
