Busch To Push For Expanded Voter Registration

House Speaker Michael Busch says he would push for legislation this year allowing for automatic voter registration for anyone turning 18.

Busch tells Maryland's News This Week says that the measure wouldn't necessarily increase voter participation on Election Day, but he says this would make it easier for people, particularly in minority communities to register.

On the same broadcast, Senate Minority Leader J,.B. Jennings dismissed the idea, noting it increases the possibility of fraud.

He also noted Maryland's early voting program, which doesn't necessarily increases voter participation, but just spreads it out over ten days.

Mandatory voting and nothing less.

If people aren't interested enough in voting to register themselves, they shouldn't vote, because they won't be familiar with the issues and candidates.

The idea of creating 'easier access, especially to minorities' is FRAUD.

How stupid does Busch think we are? It makes easier access, alright. They don't even have to show up when they vote. Somebody else will do it for them.

low info voters is NOT what we want. when these people sign up, they can be manipulated by the dems/libs and, of course, give them more votes. this should be fought at every turn.

Voter ID at the polls, no "automatic" registration. If you care enough to make a difference, you need to sign in, qualify, decide, then vote.

If tou can't be troubled to take this responsibility on yourself, then that's who you are.

The Dems are counting on making a last minute crisis to send ignorant masses to the polls at the last minute.

Nice try, but no.

We need responsible, thinking voters with live ID!
