New York – New York Judge Carolyn Walker-Diallo, a Black Muslim woman took oath as a civil court judge in New York on Thursday, while swearing to abide by the U.S. Constitution placing her hand on the Holy Quran.
In the United States and the majority of Western countries, politicians and members of the courts are sworn in to their positions while placing their hand on the Holy Bible when they take their oath.
However, Judge Walker took her oath respecting the sacred book of her Islamic faith, the Holy Quran, while also wearing a hijab.
A video posted on Facebook shows the moment when Judge Walker was sworn in as a civil court judge of the 7th Municipal District at the Brooklyn Burough Hall in New York City.
“All is praise is indeed due to the Most High! I am humbled that my community has entrusted me with the immense responsibility of ensuring that EVERYONE has notice and a FAIR opportunity to be heard in the halls of justice,” Walker wrote on her website.
The video of her ceremony has prompted many comments in favor her induction.
“Good on her. Doesn’t matter if it’s a Bible or a Holy Quran, it’s just the promise to perform to the best of your ability, swearing on something sacred to you,” a Facebook user said.

Au Contraire. The Constitution and the Koran are like oil and water. They do not mix and are legally incompatible.
That's why the Bible is used. It IS compatible with our Constitution!

This proves Sharia Law is here to stay. Obama was shore in on the Koran and several in Congress. Now look at the US. Sharia Law will empty our prisons. Sharia believes in and eye for an eye not imprisonment, the only good thing coming out o this if they enforce the Koran /Sharia Law.

Last I checked, the Constitution protected religious freedom in this country, and prohibited any religious test to hold office. Ipso facto there should be no opposition to this woman pledging on whatever she wants to.
Wouldn't it be a sound argument that those who oppose this idea are, well, Un-American? And those who support a Christian only theocracy would be.. well, not only Un-American but could be viewed as American Traitors, terrorists even?
Most people here need to wise up and recognize the importance of having a secular government that defends against tyranny, and protects freedom.. this includes religious freedom. Secular government is the ONLY kind of government that will work, and that is why our brilliant founding fathers penned the Constitution the way they did, setting up a Secular government, and NOT a theocracy.

Sharia is foreign to our culture and completely at odds with all the rights granted by our constitution and Bill of Rights. The bible is not incompatible with them. Please go to Syria or Iraq, you would be much happier there (until your head is missing).

Do you not understand Sharia Law is in the Koran and Sharia Law is against the law in the US. You are stating that religions can punish as they wish, kill as they wish which is barbaric and against the rule of law which is everyone is innocent till found guilty by a jury of their peers in a court of law.
A good start, would be to eliminate swearing on a religious book of any kind. They should base their oath off a copy of the Constitution including the Bill of Rights.
Anyone having to do with this should be fired.
Muslims should never hold government positions in this country. Period.
If she finds anyone guilty I'd say it's not valid. Any rulings out of her court should be challenged.

One is "bigoted" when they express a negative and unfounded opinion of a group of people, not based upon observation, fact, or experience. That would be what YOU are seeing when you look in the mirror.
One is "racist" when one acts in a negative manner towards others solely based upon their perceived identity as a member of a different race. Islam is not a race. It is an ideology.

As far as atrocities...you do realize, that in sharp contrast to many other countries, especially the Middle Eastern and African countries, we have a constitutional system of rules and laws in place, intended to lead our people toward a peaceful and civilized society?
The great Thomas Jefferson did indeed own a copy of the Quran. At the time, our new country was battling the Barbary pirates, who were Islamic slave traders raiding our coast and kidnapping many thousands of Americans. That's where the term "barbarian" came from, due to their vicious brutality.
Jefferson studied the Quran for what it is...a detailed ideological roadmap to the single goal of world domination, with religion as the polarizing force. His strategy to end the Islamic incursions on our soil, required an understanding of their motivation and ideology.
He was certainly no fan of Islam.
I own a Quran as well, and I have indeed read it more than once. The more I read, including subsequent hadiths, the more appalled and repulsed I am by its self-serving, fascist imperialism, and it's insidious prime directive of infiltration and conquest by any means.
Christianity may be a benign tumor that must be watched to ensure it does not turn malignant, but Islam by contrast, is a virulent, metastasizing cancer that must be eradicated down to the very spores.
