MSP Press Release 12-7-15 (Berlin Barrack)

Location: Eastbound Rt 50 @ Rt 589, Worcester County
Vehicles: Vehicle# 1 White 2002 Toyota Tercel
                

Accused: Suspect/ Driver Vehicle #1: Dale Ronald Elderidge Jr, 45 YOA, from Woodstown, NJ

Narrative:
    On December 7, 2015 at 1404 hours, the MSP Berlin Barrack received a call for a report of an intoxicated driver in the area of Rt. 50 and Rt. 589.  Troopers responded to the area, located the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle.  A high speed pursuit (speed in excess of 100 mph) was initiated after the suspect vehicle failed to stop.  Deputies from the Worcester County Sheriff's Office assisted in the pursuit by deploying "stop sticks".  The suspect vehicle struck the "stop sticks" and crashed shortly after (single vehicle collision).  The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and was not injured.  There were no injuries to law enforcement and no damage to police vehicles. The pursuit continued for 9 miles, and lasted approximately 6 minutes.  The suspect was charged with DUI and related traffic offenses.  He was later taken to the Worcester County District Court Commissioner in Snow Hill, MD.

so he was suspected of being drunk, or high, and they chased him for 9 miles at 100mph?!?

#1. A Toyota Tercel can not go 100+
#2. If it did, they wouldn't need stop sticks, it would crash on its own.
#3. They stopped making them in '99
