Feds set to stop Staples, Office Depot Merger

U.S. regulators are poised to block the proposed merger of Office Depot and Staples unless the companies deliver concessions amid concerns of their combined share in the market for corporate office supplies, according to the New York Post.

The New York Post reported late Sunday that Federal Trade Commission authorities are "leaning against the deal and are preparing to block it."

The two office supply giants had announced last month that they had won an extension on the review process through Dec. 8, when the FTC must decide whether to approve the transaction or take legal action against it.

Staples (SPLS) in February agreed to acquire Office Depot for $6.3 billion, but the deal immediately encountered regulatory scrutiny.

Our local staples store is the worst. Half the time you are wandering around looking for something that you can't find because there are no indicators of which aisle it is in.

Or even better, they label stuff as on sale and then it doesn't ring up at the sale price and their answer is "I dunno"

Time to go back to online shopping because I don't have the time to deal with the likes of the "I dunno's"

Went in Staples to get toner and they tell me, "we don't carry HP toner any more". Go online and order it and it says, pick up in your store in an hour.

Thought they didn't carry it anymore. I ordered it online and picked it up in an hour in the store that didn't care it anymore.

This place is a disaster. I hate our local Staples. I don't know how this store is still in business.
