Breaking: Congress OKs short-term spending bill hours before deadline

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House has passed a short-term spending bill to keep the government open through next Wednesday.

The measure was approved by voice vote hours on Friday ahead of a midnight deadline. It now goes to President Barack Obama for his signature. The White House has said he will sign it.

The measure will give lawmakers and the White House more time to complete negotiations on a $1.1 trillion government-wide spending bill for 2016.

It is reassuring to know that the United States of America will continue to be the world's largest superpower all the way through next Wednesday.

I feel so proud...
