The UNICEF study found that 26 adolescents are infected every hour, and only one in 10 adolescents in sub-Saharan Africa is tested for HIV.
Girls in the region are disproportionately affected, accounting for 7 of 10 new infections among 15-19 year-olds, the study found.
"It is critical that young people who are HIV-positive have access to treatment, care and support," Craig McClure, head of UNICEF's global HIV/AIDS programs, said at a conference in Johannesburg, South Africa, where the report was released.

And how are they infected? Unprotected sex, whether forced or invited. These populations will AIDS themselves to extinction.

I wish the article had clarified if the teens had been infected from birth or infected when they began to have sex.
Are you kidding? This IS them. Twice as many blacks are diagnosed with AIDS, as of last year's statistics from the CDC, than whites. Physiological as well as culturally based deficits in impulse control, cause them to be far more prone to behaviorally based diseases such as AIDS.
