Local leaders urge governor to release GCEI funds

ANNAPOLIS, Md. —Local leaders throughout Maryland are urging the governor release funding for education.

County executives and Baltimore's mayor joined forces Monday to get Gov. Larry Hogan to fully fund the Geographic Cost of Education Index. The elected officials from five jurisdictions said withholding the money has forced them to reduce much-needed opportunities for students.

"I am here today out of the frustration that I and many in Baltimore feel that the state continues to deny important education resources, important funds," Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said.

The officials claim the loss of GCEI funds has forced them to cut programs.

when they accurately account for every dollar they have received in the past. Then justify what percentage went for the students and what went for BS, then it might be considered

Governor Hogan please hold your ground and don't do it. It is a scam, you give in to this request, then the gates of hell are open. Hold the line and don't give in. This can be re-visited in the next fiscal year. Take it from a taxpayer from Wicomico County, the superintendent of the Board of Education has just about ruined this county under all the education increases "for the children" that have actually gone for meals, trips, and a new building, and little if any goes for books, or the children. DON'T FALL FOR THIS TRAP!

Like the governor should trust or believe anything that comes out of the mouth of Baltimore's mayor. She will try to get her hands on as much money as she can rip off before she leaves office. Those kids won't see any benefit of any monies given to Baltimore.

They are already under investigation for lack luster financial reporting.

specifically those with free and reduced meals and English-language challenges," Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said.

I've got news for you, you liberal Douche Bag... It is not my job to feed someone else's kids nor is it my job to teach non English speaking illegal Mexicans or Muslims.

Most of the "students" don't want anything to do with those "resources" and have zero interest in taking advantage of any "opportunities" that don't involve theft of some sort.
