Kraft Heinz announced Wednesday that it would be closing seven factories and cutting about 2,600 jobs.
The closing factories are in Fullerton, California; San Leandro, California; Federalsburg, Maryland; St. Marys, Ontario, Canada; Campbell, New York; Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania; and Madison, Wisconsin, Michael Mullen SVP of corporate and government affairs, said in a statement.
Over the next 12-24 months, he said, production in those locations will shift to other existing factories in North America.
He said the decision to close the factories came after "an extensive review of the Kraft Heinz North American supply chain footprint, capabilities and capacity utilization."

For all the meatheads working there, how does Obama's "hope and change" ideas are working for you now? You deserve what you voted for. Sorry you lost your jobs, but you did it to yourselves.
On the Drudge report, Target also announced they were going to close under performing stores nationwide. Wonder if Salisbury is on the list?
Cambridge Tech which used to be Maryland Wirebelts closed their plant last Friday. Not sure how many employees were involved.
Hey Teachers, where are you going to get the tax revenue to pay your high salaries? Borrow more from the Federal Government?
Plenty of suffering to go around, maybe it is time for the BOE to do the same with cost cutting measures!!!!
I wonder what the great John Kerry thinks about this! (Like he could care less).
The Target store in Salisbury should be doing great. I shop there because I can't stand Walmart and I'm sure there are lots of others who feel the same.
What a cruel and hateful thing to say, 4:33.
5:28 my thoughts also. I am tired of reading such ignorant hateful statements. Seems to be the culture
That's what happens when socialism gets a foothold.
Now we can add Krafts Food, Federalsburg, MD facility to the long list of other notable eastern shore businesses. Like Dresser/Haliburton, Crown, Cheapeake Bay Plywood, Standard Register, Comtek, Gruman, Shawnee Homes, Campbell's Soup . . heck I could go on and on forever. What get's me though is that Krafts Food is - or was - suppose to be yet another cornerstone industry in our community. I can vividly remember Maryland's former Governor, William Donald Schaeffer, touting the 151 Line - Preston Trucking - as America's most successful industry. Less than 6 months latter, they even filed for bankruptcy leaving Federalsburg almost desolate. Now with Kraft closing - Federalsburg really is desolate.
5:28 & 5:48 - if they voted dumbocrat - they got what they deserve!
If they didn't vote - they got what they deserve. The ones that have a right to complain are those that voted against the current regime!
Too bad Marty had so much time to screw things up here in the "Free" state. If Larry Hogan had been elected one cycle earlier, the business climate might not have been so bad for so long as to show up on these folks radar.
Thankfully, governor Hogan is starting to turn this place around to the correct pathway!
ha us teachers are doing great work 9 months a year beach all summer life is good
5:28 and 5:48.....you sound like you DID vote for the man who said he would "fundamentally change" this country.
He turned this great nation into a quagmire of part time jobs, with millions upon millions of unemployed people.
Our children are dumbed down and suspended for chewing a Pop Tart into the SHAPE of a gun.
Surveillance of all Americans has exploded. Our prestige in the world has dropped into the negative numbers and Russia and China are flexing their muscles and LAUGHING at us.
We owe NINETEEN TRILLION DOLLARS! And what does the leader of the Free World do? Demand that legislators give him unlimited spending authority. When "we, the people" run out of money, we don't eat. HE SPENDS MORE!
We have a "health care" system that, instead of helping, bankrupts people because they pay, but can't afford to use it.
The economy?
Sinking like a rowboat in a hurricane.
4:33 might have been blunt, but the truth is something that can't be changed.
THIS is socialism in action. Keep cheering.
You are sadly mistaken. I didn't vote for him and am a conservative Republican. I was calling someone out because they were horribly rude. As are you.
8:25 What did anyone say that would fall under the definition of "horribly rude"? This is a blog after all and it is a forum for people to vent their frustrations about things. That said I don't see where any comment on this topic would fall under the category of horribly rude. I guess some people are just thin skinned and if that is the case maybe you should stop reading comments.
If you think the comment by 4:33 was not rude, then that's just sad. Good hardworking people are losing their jobs. We should all show some sympathy. :-(
5:48, agree!!
Business does what business does. It's always been that way. The bottom line is the only thing that matters. If Perdue could do it cheaper somewhere else, they'd do it there instead of here.
*:25...you just happen to be on the boat where everyone else is pouring water INTO the hold...Sorry about your job, I really am....your next job will be for less money, less hours, and no benefits. Join the club of MILLIONS.
7-11 is hiring a part time clerk. 12 hrs a week, $8.50 an hour.
But at least Obama will be able to count you as "employed".
Think its bad NOW???? Wait until Hillary puts the finishing touches on Obama's travesty of a term.
If you have any 401(k), cash it in and buy weapons. It is only going to get worse.
Take heart --- it is all Bush's fault. oabama would have saved the world and no one would ever hurt or go hungry again. If is wasn't for the evil Bush.
IT is unfortunate that really stupid people have computers. To blame the people who lost their jobs for losing their jobs is absurd. It is equally appalling that this blog does not monitor and delete such ridiculous comments.
Very sad.
They tried that in New York but Senator Schumer and Governor Couomo put a stop to that , ove 5 Million dalthey can't close up for at least five years and must invest over 5 million dollars in upgrades
and ne employees to all of the plants
Reference to comment regarding Maryland taking advantage of the poultry industry.
I should say so - when Senator Modeleno -(western shore left wing dem) - sponsors a 'Biddy Tax' to tax poultry growers per individual chicks - I too say that is going to far. My advise to Perdue - get the hell out of here ASAP. The Annapolis legislature is not only dangerous to your health - but to our individuals wealth.
There is more incentive to go out of business than there is to stay in business - here in the US.
