Breaking News Several Fire Departments Dispatched To the Airport

Stations 6, 1, 2, 7, 16, 3 and 11 have been dispatched to the Salisbury Airport for an Alert 2. Plane advising they are having a complete brake failure.  Airport advised they do not have a plane scheduled to land for at least an hour.  This appears to be a private aircraft.

Plane was able to land safely.

Units have been given the all clear to return to their stations.

How can you have a brake problem if you haven't landed yet?

Anonymous said...

Same way you can can get a brake or ABS warning light on your car while you're driving.

Warning light likely came on

653, DUH,yes. Can you have a DUI problem before deciding to drive the car?

Oh, you probably wouldn't know, Dumba..

What's DUI got to do with this Steve? What a goofball.

This dispatch was absolute overkill. I don't ever remember the 911 center dispatching that many departments for any call at the airport. this is wrong and it is going to get someone killed. This is proof that the County Executive needs to investigate why his 911 center is dispatching calls they know are not serious. They do this all the time. As a matter of fact right after this and while still on the call they dispatched Station 16 for an MVC with RESCUE on Rt. 13 in front of the Super Super Giant. Again it turns out that it was a minor MVC with very minor injuries. This group of dispatchers are doing this intentionally and it is going to get someone killed. There was also another "Rescue" dispatched this weekend and it wasn't. They constantly dispatch "Structure Fires" that are not structure fires and they know it because you can tell by the information they tell the responding units. These guys need to be fired for this.

These wannnabe farmin think they are so smart. This is how they treat the people that financially support their exhistence. Quit going to their events and quit sending them money. Also call each of your council members and demand that they stop funding them. They get way to much money from the county. How can you tell? Look at all the brand new fire trucks and fire equipment they have. Look at all the cars, traffic control units, command vehicles, brush trucks, tankers, fire engines. All of these with fancy light packages and chrome or polished aluminium. Look at all the waste.. Chrome wheels don't put fires out.

Gee, when I call 911 they want to quiz the crap out of me and half the time they don't even know what jurisdiction the address is in. 7 companies for a private plane? C'mon man!

Lord have mercy, sounds like you call them daily

there is 1 or 2 of them per Piedmont shift. They have minimal training. Their only function is 2 fufill legalities. Their standing orders r to show up at the crash, squirt foam at any open fires, and wait 4 the realfirefighters 2 show up.

International Rule #1 for preparing for a potential MCI~ prepare for the worst, hope 4 the best. Gotta love all the amatuers that critique incidents like this.

It's not the 911 center that decides who gets dispatched to the airport on certain "alerts." That woulds be the Wicomico County Chief's association and airport management. The airport calls over to 911 and says "we've got an alert 1, 2, or 3" and 911 staff dispatches who is due on that specific alert #. Your gripe is with those two entities, not 911.

The policies and action plans are in place for specified responses. When X occurs or can occur, the plans for X go into motion, both as reactive and proactive responses to the situation and what the situation might become. In the case of aircraft/airport emergencies, FAA rules figure into the response plan creation and execution.

All true, but some people just don't get it that there's an actual plan.

and the same people who complain about the fd showing up loaded for bear would be complaining if something turned into a major incident and the fd was undermanned and underequipped. theres no winning with the fd haters.

These will be the first to complain when there's not enough equipment and firefighters on scene. I don't want to see anybody die for that reason.

Maybe it's an "actual plan" but it didn't have to be implemented. Those low life dispatchers who can't fight fire get their cookies off talking up a big fire or a big incident. I know what I am talking about, get over it little boy.

This was major overkill by a low experienced dispatcher.

The clown dispatched all those stations then went back and dispatched individual ambulance calls on this. Please tell me how long it would take station 11 Powellville to get there. WTF!!

"realfirefighters" LMFAO

What the heck is a realfirefighter? Let me guess Mr. Little Farmin I bet that is u a realfarmin. Go crawl back in your oversized 4x4 redneck chevy and go home. There aren't many real firefighters in Wicomico County.

Look at this farmin trying to justify their job.

I say F it. Close all the fire departments down and let people take personal responsibility for their property. Problem solved. Oh yeah, let's see you get insurance on a house. No insurance, then you can't get a mortgage so you better save enough money to buy it cash.
