I get it! Went to American education week! The teacher said if you haven't wrote your name on the picture do it now! It was like chalk on a blackboard!

The person doing this couldn't decide between "is" and "are". They knew one was right, but didn't want to risk an embarrassing mistake.

This is how they teach now days. Kids can't read, write cursive, or spell among other things when they graduate from high school. But,
they can use a cell phone for hours and text endlessly.
