Yes, if it will help stem the number people children roaming the streets late at night getting into trouble, and yes if it will help reduce crime in all areas of this city. However it must be strictly enforced and the parents/guardians need to be held just as accountable as the children.

Yes, there should be a curfew, BUT, if the parents try to enforce it the kids will call social services and report them as bad parents. The police in this town are afraid of all of these thugs and just will not enforce anything, they are scared for their own safety. The way to get rid of some of this is to NOT let anyone in a place of business with a Hoodie on. Just look at the pictures posted, they all have one on!!

I say yes to under 16. Parents of child on second violation should be charged. Find the funds in the long run it saves man power. The question will be what to do with frequent offenders. You cant house them.

I am out working overnight every night and it shocks me what I see. First I never see the police outside of their cars except that they are inside the conv. stores now and then. Other than that they are parked in certain places watching the cars go by. The one thing that could change things would be the police on foot patrolling the neighborhoods. I know this would mean hiring more officers and that would cost a lot of money, but the city absolutely waste's enough to afford more police. It would allow people in the community's to get to know the police on a more personal level and then maybe the people would give the police tips on who is responsible for crimes in their local area. I don't think a curfew could be in-forced and what to do with those who are caught!? Citizens should get more involved and not be afraid to report suspicious activities.

Why pay for more police. These dam parents need to take care of and supervise their own dam kids. Hell, my mom took care of us while faddy work. These single parent household create this problem. Kids today are bad as hell on all ethnic background. A curfew shluld be enforce on kids 18 years and younger. Of this group is out after curfew, they should be out with their own parent(s).
A curfew will be enforced unjustly just like every other law on the books. You will not stop the worst crimes in Salisbury with a curfew, you will only have a bunch of poor night shift workers who walk to work getting constantly harassed by the losers on SBYPD. Look at all the armed bank and convenience store hold ups that happen in broad daylight.
No man or woman should have to loose their freedoms and liberties because the actions of few. Everyone should be responsible for their own actions and their children until the child is deemed an adult.

It would be impossible. Unconstitutional to ones right to travel free and unmolested. Be hard to enact one on people who are 16 and under. To stop a person who looks 16 but is 18 is a violation of rights in its self. Profiling by defenition.

I support a curfew for ages 17 and under only! Legally you are an adult at 18, you can join the military and fight for your country. Adults should be able to make their own decisions on how late they stay out at night. Curfew for minors under 18 only.

I agree. Also, at 18 they are held accountable for their actions and crimes, as an adult, if caught. At 17 or less, they rarely face any consequences for their behwvior.

The Supreme Court has affirmed more than once, that "children" do not have full Constitutional protection. (Unless it's an illegal alien minor...of course).
That's why schools can search lockers and kids' personal belongings without a warrant or probable cause.

they implemented a curfew here in the 70's when we had a serial child killer on the loose and it was just fine...A curfew to keep thugs off the streets would be awesome.
It opens up law suits. Kids who are of age but look young will be engaged by police. To engage an 18 yr old who looks 15 is unconstitutional and a violation of ones rights. There would be no way to enact a curfew without opening a can of creamed crap. Period. All of you are speaking from personal feelings and ready to wipe your asses with our Constitution in the same breath. All you people who say yes are as much a part of societies problems as the supposed thugs you speak of.

It won't work with as many unmarked cars as there are in our area.Virtually anyone with a car similar to those driven by local police agencies could instruct children to get into their car & "go down to the station".After that we'd have another abducted child.There is absolutely no way around that unless every police car has police markings,and we all know that police cannot work effectively without unmarked vehicles.For that reason I am against a curfew.
