(Pikesville, MD) – Troopers investigated several crashes involving impaired drivers and made numerous arrests this past weekend across Maryland.
This past weekend, October 2, 2015 through October 5, 2015, troopers investigated 15 collisions involving suspected impaired drivers. One of those crashes involved a Maryland State Trooper occurred in the Annapolis area while attempting to stop a suspected drunk driver. He was arrested and charged.
Forty-seven additional motorists were arrest for a vehicle while impaired. Troopers remind everyone that impaired driving crashes are completely preventable by never driving after you have been drinking.
These collisions included:
Charles Co. – Route 231 at Latham Court, Prince Frederick, MD – 10:43 p. m. – October 2 – Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash involving a car that ran off the roadway into a ditch. The driver was transported to the hospital. The driver was subsequently charged with DUI.
Queen Anne’s Co. – Route 301 at Greenspring Avenue, Queen Anne’s, MD – 5:34 p. m. October 2 – Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash. The at-fault driver was found to be impaired and was arrested.
Charles Co. – Route 257 at Route 254, Cobb Island, MD – 3:13 a. m. – October 3 – Troopers responded to a crash in which the vehicle struck a tree. The driver was found to be impaired and was charged with accordingly.
Prince George’s Co. – I-495 at I-95, College Park, MD – 3:30 a. m. – October 3 – Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash involving a car that ran off the roadway into a wooded area. The driver was observed to be impaired and arrested.
Frederick Co. – Route 27 at Penn Shop Road, Mt. Airy, MD – 7:06 p. m. – October 3 – A vehicle was traveling along Rt. 27 when the driver failed to stop the vehicle before striking another vehicle in the rear. No one was injured but driver left the scene of the crash. The driver was located, impairment was observed and the driver was arrested.
Charles Co. – Route 301 at Vernon Road, Waldorf, MD – 7:12 p. m. – October 3 – Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash involving a car that left the roadway and struck tree. Driver was flown to University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center. Charges are pending.
Anne Arundel Co. – I-695 @ I-295, Linthicum Heights, MD – 10:00 p. m. – October 3 – Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash. One of the drivers was found to be intoxicated and was subsequently charged.
Washington Co. – 13,300 block of Cearfoss Pike, Hagerstown, MD – 4:24 p. m. – October 3 – The barrack received a call for a two vehicle crash where the at-fault driver appeared to be impaired. The driver was arrested.
Wicomico Co. – Rockawalkin Road at Levin Dashiell Road, Hebron, MD – 2:50 a. m. – October 4 – Troopers respond to a single vehicle crash. The driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to spin out of control. The driver left the scene of the crash and was later located by troopers. The driver was charged accordingly.
Charles Co. – Route 201 at Glymont Road, Indian Head, MD – 12:26 a. m. – October 5 – Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash. One of the drivers was found to be intoxicated and was subsequently charged.
Prince George’s Co. – Route 50 at Route 201, Hyattsville, MD – 5:50 a. m. – October 4 – Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash into a guardrail. When contact was made with the driver, impairment was observed. Field test was given and the driver performed poorly. Driver was arrested.
Prince George’s Co. – U.S. 301 at Governor Bridge Road, Bowie, MD – 5:53 p. m. – October 4 – Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash into a guardrail. When contact was made with the driver, impairment was observed. Field test was given and the driver performed poorly. Driver was arrested.
Allegany Co. – Cherry Lane at Route 36, Frostburg, MD – 7:00 p. m. – October 4 – Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash. The vehicle struck a guardrail and left the scene of the collision. Troopers located the driver. The driver was found to be impaired and was charged.
Baltimore Co. – I-83 in the area of Middletown Road, Parkton, MD – 12:56 a. m. – October 5 – Citizens contacted Golden Ring Barrack in reference to a single vehicle crash. Once troopers contacted the driver, he demonstrated signs of impairment. The driver was unable to complete field test successfully. The driver was arrested.
