Speaking to Congress, Pope Francis is calling for an end to the death penalty in the U.S. and across the world.
Francis says that every life is sacred and society can only benefit from rehabilitating those convicted of crimes.
The pope noted that U.S. bishops have renewed their call to abolish capital punishment. That idea is unpopular, however, with many American politicians.
The pontiff did not specifically mention abortion — a particularly contentious issue in Congress at the moment that threatens to force the shutdown of the U.S. government next week.

Surely the Pope must know that the bible (God's Word) clearly sets forth capital punishment and approves of it. Refer to Exodus 21:12
and Exodus 22:4 dealing with self-defense.
In addition, you would think that the Pope's faith would be great enough to believe our Creator has the climate under control, and that nothing is happening to the climate or that we can do that will interfere with God's control over it.
There's plenty of "capital punishment" in the bible. Easy enough to pick and choose your moral standpoint, isn't it.
The pope, just like john roberts has been compromised. They are both owned by the same demons that own hussien obama.
First of all the pope has no business poking his nose in our politics.....go back to the vatican........second.....no one needs religion to live life.....no specific church required.......most are cult like for a reason......it's called control....if you choose to believe in a higher power your free to do so. If you choose not you are fine to!!!!! The pope is a kind man I'm sure but he needs to go...
Agreed.
