Baltimore gets $20 million grant to battle HIV

BALTIMORE —The Baltimore City Health Department is getting more than $20 million in grant funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to battle HIV infections.

New cases of the virus are declining across the city except among the gay male and transgender communities in Baltimore, health officials said.

African-American populations are particularity at risk. The Health Department reported that 84 percent of those living with HIV in Baltimore are African-American.

Well, that's probably $20 million down the rabbit hole. Check back in a year or two to see what an impact it has on new HIV cases.
