It won't have it long. It will be a stimulus package for nail salons, hair extensions places, upscale handbags, cadillac dealership, corner liquor stores and chinese carry out. Not to mention a shady investment dude that will charge outrageous fees.

I am one of the few who haven't a problem with this. Not only as 10:00 has stated but this releases all of the officers from any civil liability. They will not have to testify or give depositions. They will never have to face the crazies in the lynch mob now which is a blessing. Those 6 officers are much better than those people and now don't have to lower themselves to breath the same air as them.
Let's see where the money goes. A decent reporter should follow it.
The one thing you can't give poor people is cash. Every night is going to be Friday night to those people. There isn't enough heroin and crack in that city to keep them happy. Not to mention smokes, weed, booze and whatever other vices they can find.
And what about the role models who will be trying to throw their kids at police cars hoping they get killed or seriously injured so they can get a payday. You know, that they so richly deserve.
But really, whose money did the Mayor just give away anyway? The peoples money, that's whose.
The city has lost half of its population since 2004 whats that telling u. Detroit here we come. I bet some politicians are getting paid.

Are you really that F*n stupid!!! This has nothing to do with the "criminal" trial of these officers. It has nothing to do with them being held liable individually. They will still have to testify and give depositions. How else to you think they will clear their names. You dumb moron.

FYI a defendant can NOT be forced to testify or give deposition in a criminal trial-Do you understand!
Now just to let you know so you are informed before you make further ignorant comments, the settlement agreement absolved the 6 officers of any civil liability related to this. They cannot be sued over it.
Now to educate you further Einstein, in a civil case defendants can be forced to testify but not in a criminal trial.
They can 'clear their names' the same way Zimmerman did. He didn't testify or give a deposition. It's called evidence.

Any settlements such as this, inheritance, beneficiaries of a trust, etc have to be reported. This impacts the mother and the father only. There are 2 adult sisters who will still be entitled to welfare benefits.

I am not a parasitic welfare leech, with a whole litter of children I couldn't support. I have a job and pay taxes. I have no criminal record and have never been arrested. I speak perfect, grammatical English, and can write a coherent, legible sentence. I finished high school without getting knocked up, and went to college...without the help of the "United Negro College Fund" or extra points given on the entrance exams. I raised my child along with my husband, and I do t have to wonder who the father is. I am not, and have never been on parole or probation. I have never physically assaulted someone, nor have I spent a minute in jail.
I have nothing but contempt for people who see an unfortunate incident such as this, as an opportunity to cash in, regardless of right or wrong.
