The parents of this child need their ass kicked unless I've missed something.A 7 year old has no business operating an ATV.The company that manufactured an ATV miniturized for child use (if that was the case, and it probably was because a 7 year old is typically too small to operate an adult 4 wheeler)should be sued.

It could've been prevented in so many ways. And I know I've been asking the sheriff's to patrol these roads in Mardela for over a year now due to excessive speed and ATV/ dirt bikes on the road. They say you have to ask a certain person who never returns calls! It's an overtime assignment. Since when is patrolling an overtime assignment?

Regardless of his age, this is a horrible accident and will stay with the people involved forever. One day your son is laughing and having a great time and the next minute he is dead. May GOD give his parents the strength to get thru this tradery.

Even worse, if possible. And to the one wanting to kick the parents ass, don't you think they feel bad enough right now? I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, I am curious to know where they were when this happened to. But I don't want to rub salt into their wounds right now, at least not until more info is out.

When we bought ours years ago they had a sticker that on the larger ones that stated for ages 16 and up. Even the smaller ones are recommended for 12 and up. They might have smaller ones now but no way should they be driven on or across a roadway. When our kids rode them they knew if they had to cross a road they were to get off and walk it across the road.

These small ATVs have remote shut off. They look like your keyless entry/alarm on your key ring. If the kid took off and the parents couldn't catch him then why wasn't it used? Was he left alone? And final thought..... Why don't these kid ATVs have the lock outs where it has to be a certain distance from a control or it shuts off and won't fire? That way a parent has to be there within a certain distance unless the parent gives it to the kid or leaves it on the ATV . either way ..... It's the parents fault automatically and they should be charged.

12:04 - sue the company? The ATV was purchased by an adult, the company has nothing to do with it beyond that.

It is a tragedy that this happened to this little boy, I pray for the parents and the driver of the car.

Nice thought. I neglected to even think how this person must be feeling.

This is a Tragedy - YES - but it could have been prevented! These children have ridden these ATV's out in front of numerous drivers! This was not a first! The sister went across the road first, then the little boy shot across. For the ones asking where were the parents - they were standing in the front yard! They witnessed this tragedy!
