Sen. Simonaires want good Samaritan legislation for children locked in cars

The Simonaire legislative duo has requested a bill be drafted to protect people from civil liability when damaging a motor vehicle to save a trapped child.

"With sweltering summer temperatures, no one is safe inside an unattended vehicle, especially a child," Sen. Bryan Simonaire, R-Pasadena, said in a statement. "Providing immunity to everyday concerned citizens will allow fast acting responses to a dangerous situation."

Simonaire and his daughter, Del. Meagan Simonaire, R-Pasadena, are the first father/daughter duo to serve in the legislature at the same time.

Good Samaritan legislation has had support in other states, such as Oklahoma

We don't need a law, just people with common sense.

It should definitely be a law, for
man or beast for that matter. No
one should have to pay for rescuing
a child in danger!!

Just a PR stunt for relevance. Don't need a law just break into the car and let 12 decide.

Forcing people to become law enforcement...I see a field day for lawyers.
