May 15th, 2015 is the next 3rd Friday inDowntown Salisbury, with artists and crafters filling the streets, live music on the Plaza from local group Ode & The Time Node Trio, and a theme that will be sure to keep things rolling:  SPINNING WHEELS! From cars, motorcycles, bikes, skate boards, roller skates and race cars to pottery wheels, pinwheels, and spinning wheels, we have all of the things that make other things go round!  National Bike Month  May is National Bike Month , and 3rd Friday is evenNational Bike to Work Day , so to celebrate, we will have all of Salisbury's bike clubs and enthusiasts gathered.  Ride your bike to 3rd Friday!  Complimentary bike valet service  will be offered by Bike-SBY !  Learn about the Orange Route , and the City Park mountain bike trails from the Eastern Shore IMBA , and join up with the Pedal Thru the Park  club in front of the old courthouse for a bike ride at 6PM!   On the Plaza, get the latest scoop about the Salisbury Skatepark  now under construction and connect with the Salisbury Rollergirls , our very own roller derby team!  Learn about Pinwheels for Protection , a child advocacy and awareness campaign just launched in Wicomico County.     You can even watch live pottery wheel demonstrations by Amused Studios, and spinning wheel demonstrations by fiber artist Susan Brazer, all while enjoying outdoor beer and wine service hosted by theSalisbury Jaycees!  North Division Street  North Division Street will be filled with even more things on wheels from the Wicomico Public Library 's Bookmobile to Classic Cars,The Strictly VW Car Club and even a race car presented by Rivers Edge Apartments and Studio for the Arts.     Rommel's Harley Davidson of Delmarva will be there giving Kickstart demonstrations, and amazing way to experience riding a motorcycle without any experience required!  Even theSalisbury Fire Department's Engine 2 will be here, with representatives from Stations 1, 2 and 16 hoping to raise awareness for our city's need for new volunteer firefighter recruits! Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council Down on Poplar Hill Avenue, SWAC  will be creating a foundation for more activity for the East Main Street side of Downtown with a "Blooming Arts" display with garden tips and flower activities for the kids to plant, take home or give to Mom, as well as, additional art vendors.   Season's Best Antiques  on Poplar Hill Avenue will, of course, be open with special sales on all of their amazing inventory!   Salisbury University Downtown Galleries    Gallery exhibits abound with two new shows at Salisbury University Downtown Campus, on North Division Street. Joke Book Drawings: By Meredith Lynn tells a story.  One night last September, Lynn was woken up in the middle of the night with the news that her college roommate had killed herself in the parking lot of a hospital in Virginia. This collection of graphite drawings explores the inescapable aspects of grief.    Also at SU Galleries, Surveillance Machine: By John McFadden unveils the artist as he reacts to contemporary news cycles.   Using appropriated news material, combining works on paper and installation, McFadden constructs new narratives about global society and how information is digested in a culture of dramatized news. Art Institute and Gallery The Art Institute & Gallery also brings us the 2015 AI&G Summer Members Juried Exhibition, with entries from the top talent of our area, including a retrospective of award winning artist and long-time member Ed Challenger, of Bishopville.  AI&G will be open from 11am to 8pm on 3rd Friday, and the show will hang through June 12th.   The AI&G Foyer Gallery will  feature the works of AI&G's brand new Executive Director, Alison "Ali" Grice.  This will be a great time to meet the new leader of the AI&G and appreciate her qualities as a phenomenal artist.  You can also find out more about their upcoming kids' Summer Camps, adult watercolor class with Keith Whitelock, or Murder Mystery Dinner Fundraiser at the Elks on May 29th. The AIG is located on the lower level of the Gallery Building off the Plaza.    Headquarters Live , downtown's all new music venue, will have an  Elton John & Billy Joel Tribute Show! Watch the Pianoman and the Rocketman performing all their greatest hits for only ten bucks!   It's an all ages show, with doors open at seven, and the music of Brendan Gallagher  opening the evening at eight o'clock.      The downtown bars and restaurants are also ready for a night filled with specials and live entertainment.  For the happy hour crowd,Roadie Joe's will have live music by Mike Weyrauch with DJ Rusty late night, and Brew River will be having a Friday Night Dock Bar Party with the Bo Dickerson Band at 6PM and DJ C-Dub to close. For the after dinner crowd, Mojo's has local favorite Flint Eastwood,  Cellar Door will have the acoustic styling's of Phil Portier, Market Streethas DJ B-Side and The Brick Room will have Anna Moss performing from 7pm -10pm!  Enza's An Organic Salon will  also have live music by their very own Jessie & Neal of "PoToLo" from 6-8, and special sales on all loofahs, body scrubs, body oils & lotions, so stop by!
