Rick Pollitt Hired As New Town Manager of Crisfield

As if Crisfield doesn't have enough of their own problems, Pollitt was unanimously voted in by their Council.
Beer, crabs, a company car, free gas and a depressed community, it's a perfect job for this guy. Obviously Crisfield doesn't give a crap about past history or a proven track record. I also didn't realize there was so much Joy Jelly in Crisfield.

Rick, clean those damn projects up and get rid of sectin 8. Crisfield might then have a chance. Currently it is one of the worst towns I've ever been in. Oh, by the way - I see where the town is advertizing for police officers. How are you going to attract top notch police personnel by paying them 28,000 - 30,000 per year to work in that viper's nest?

Is anyone surprised? Mr. professional politician who has never had a "real job" has fooled another community. Does anyone pay attention to his track record? Rick Pollitt does everything to benefit him. I am amazed at the stupidty of people voting for this clown. Maryland politics, is comedy central.

Oh...My...God!

It's the way of thinking in Somerset. He fits in perfect with the good old boy network. He will take what they offer and find a way for more.

Anonymous said...

Good freaking luck to Crisfield!

Anonymous said...

Well, that does it. Crisfield is history now.

Anonymous said...

Really speaks volumes about the council there.

Did they not pay attention to what he did to this county? Did they not pay attention to the trouncing he got this past election cycle? Are they not paying attention to the positive things that have happened since that election cycle?

Or maybe they want to be dragged down to the level of a third world village...they now have their idiot!

Poor choice but likely the best for Crisfield. Who would want to hang out in Crisfield full-time. Only a do nothing type.

Anonymous said...

they will be sorry.

Crisfield is definitely not a destination anymore, not for tourists and vacationers, anyway. It shot itself in the foot years ago by building a slew of subsidized housing then multistory waterside condos whose easterly view was of that very impoverished neighborhood.

After a more or less lackluster performance as county executive (I'm being generous here), Pollitt has his work cut out for him with the disaster that is Crisfield.

He's a great choice!!!

Congratulation Rick!

For restaurant owners in Somerset co this has to be a happy day. With Crisfield paying the way Thier sales will increase along with his waistline. He will also find a way to dine outside of Somerset Co.on Thier dollar. I can see a crab shortage comming.

Great job for Rick! It comes with a waterfront condo.

this guy is going to do whatever he can to not have to work and still suck off the taxpayer dime. i think i just heard taxes go up already in crisfield.

I voted for Bob Culver in the election, but it is grossly unfair to blame all of Wicomico County's problems on Pollitt.

I actually thought he did a good job in Fruitland. Give the guy a break.

Pollitt is the most qualified for the position - former Somerset County director of P&Z and former city manager of Fruitland. I believe he will bring about a positive change to Crisfield. Let's wait and see.

Pollitt is a democrat and the Crisfield city council and mayor are democrats so it's a no brainer. One thing about democrats is that they don't care about reputations, they only care about taxing and spending and with that mentality they certainly hired the right man. Look out Crisfielders, your taxes will be going up, up, and up.

Since I'm from Talbot county I don't know much about him other than the few times I've seen him on TV. What was apparent by the few times I did hear him, is that he can't strike anyone of having even of an average intelligence level.
He should fit right in down in Crisfield.

Anonymous said...

I'd move out of Crisfield if I lived there!!

To say that Crisfield's upward climb from natural and manmade disaster will be a challenge is an understatement. Pollitt has good local management skills (Fruitland did well under his leadership as town manager) and these will be put to the test in Crisfield. I wish him well and hope that he can motivate his staff to truly look forward.

May God help them. I hope they have a fat checkbook.

This marks the END of Crisfield, Md.21817. The rubes that elected the current Mayor& Council have finally got what's coming to them. You can expect the water&sewer rates to double as they did in Fruitland and a mass exodus OUT of the City limits. ALL of the people who made this decision will be affected EXCEPT the residents of the City& State funded Section 8 Housing across the way from one of the most modern marinas on Chesapeake Bay.

We dock our boat in Crisfield however we will be moving it to Cambridge now. Rick Pollitt just about broke Wicomico County, it will take a long time to recover from his so called leadership.
To the citizens of Crisfield go to your city leaders and demand his removal he will break your town, you cannot afford to feed him.

A message to the city council of Crisfield Pollitt will only work about 30 hours a week and that will include his food breaks.

9:00 Ummmm, no it's not. I'm all for taxes, and even know they will go up. But, when you SEE NOTHING but waste, and ZERO money going where it was intended...you know it was him at fault. God forbid he had to miss 1 out of 2 Wawa stops, give up a lunch or dinner from time to time, give up the bar tabs, the wasted gas burned for his personal benefit. GTFOH with your crap. The guy is a lazy, do nothing, slob. Perfect fit for Crisfield.

THIS IS SAD NEWS FOR THE PEOPLE IN CRISFIELD ENOUGH SAID.

Those poor Chrisvillians. They don't know what poor is really like until about the 2nd year under Pollitt's tenure. Think real estate prices are depressed now? Just wait until you get your latest real estate tax bills under Pollitt's watch and you'll be begging for Doug Marshall Auctions to pay you a visit. This is Not a joke either.

Poor suckers. A new fool is born everyday, and today the citizens of Crisfield are about to get a rude awakening.

Anonymous said...

Crisfield , it doesn't surprise me , trailer trash of the eastern shore. Hell, he will be a hero here. These people don't know $hit from shinenola.

Anonymous said...

Jesus. They'll take any old wicomico washout.

Anonymous said...

Did they not read, hear or understand what happened with him in Salisbury? This is real dumb doesn't reflect good on Crisfield hiring Salisbury's failures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I wonder if Tamara will be his PIO in Crisfield. He couldn't go and where without her.

Anonymous said...

Politics is not always "who you know"...sometimes it's "who gets the money."

Anonymous said...

Only go there once a year for the clam bake and always go by boat. Nothing else there to see and sure don't want to leave a vehicle unattended there either.

Anonymous said...

7:18,are you kidding, they will get more of the same.

Anonymous said...

Crisfield would have done much better had they hired,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,anyone.

He did well in Fruitland? Says who, you?? What an idiot. What happened to the 8 years following that stint in Fruitland as a major failure in Wicomico County! Dummy, tell us Dummy! What happened to those last 8 years of failure? Typical Democrat going to ignore that aren't you.

I bet you voted for Obama didn't you!

Anonymous said...

Crisfield is desperate for anyone with a good song and dance.

Anonymous said...

The crabbers better keep an eye on their pots Pollitt will eat the chicken out of them.
All kidding aside it is hard to believe that these people hired this guy what a waste of taxpayers money.

Anonymous said...

Poor Rick Pollitt, Antknee Brown, Laura Mitchell, Ron Pagano and Josh Hastings all lost their elections along with Rickee Boi!

Anonymous said...

I guess crisfield has no where to go but up.

Anonymous said...

Rick does no work. He is a ribbon cutter, hand shaker and figure head only with a big appetite. Showed up as Executive no earlier than 10 a.m. according to his closest staff. He is a lazy loser. He couldn't lead Crisfield out of a paper bag. They are doomed now.

This just proves that what they say about Somerset County is true.

reminds me of a parasite or a leach

Anonymous said...

9 AM - Give the guy a break? NO! When did he ever give Wicomico County a break? NEVER! Crisfield has got to be desperate is all I know.

Anonymous said...

Are those people completely nuts in Crisfield?????Didn't they even bother to fact check how he screwed Salisbury taxpayers over and the real mess he made of everything his hands touched except of course all the food he could shove in his face.

Next thing you know, the Crisfied council will be crying boo hoo and want a financial bailout to get them out of the mess awaiting them.

Good Lord, I thought those folks had more sense than to hire him.

I didn't say a thing about his eight years as county executive, which, in my opinion, was a position over his head and out of his reach, one that he found overwhelming.
When he was town manager, he was much more in his element, where small town good-old-boy relationships are what make the world go 'round. In Crisfield, the same thing is true. If he can be as successful as he was in Fruitland in getting local informal power to move in a single direction, along with a state and federal dollar infusion (make that a big bore double drip, wide open), it'll be because he'll once again be in more or less his element: small, provincial town, small number of players.
But here's the catch: I don't think that anything short of a giant TV Town Makeover will help Crisfield. Its identity has been given, stolen, sold and washed away, and what's left is comatose and not likely to survive or thrive if it does survive. To have Pollitt in there seeing to the daily operations of this town is as good as having anyone else. Unless you've got about two billion dollars, a brilliant theme and a huge marketing effort, one that surpasses "Home Of The Ward Brothers and Written Up In 12 Different Magazines", Crisfield's going to pretty much look the way it does now for a very long time.

Nope, didn't vote for Obama. And Hillary is not an option. I wish that Ron Paul were running.

Man I should have applied! They must be really' really desperate...to go into bankruptcy!!

Very, very poor choice. All of his life he's had others create jobs for him.

Closest similar job was Fruitland which was in his back yard, and during a time when the local economy was growing. Rising tide lifts all boats, even those with a load like him aboard. A stuffed animal could have accomplished as much as he did.

Others have already accurately described what a miserable failure he was as Wicomico executive.

Crisfield doesn't have the cash flow or resources to enable him to hide behind a wall of subordinates. His buddy OweMalley is gone. And while there are many friendly residents, there are very many with short tempers who talk very plain English. In an appointed position he'll have nowhere to hide.

He'll make it until the Clam Bake.

Poor Crisfield.

Does he get a town take home car like he did for the county?

I hope they have a large food allowance for him.

Anonymous said...

Condolences for a choice not chosen wisely. Doesn't anybody in Crisdfield give pause concerning the reasons he was not re-elected in Wicomico County?? Can anybody answer this logically??

Citizens vote for their elected officials. If you don't like what's going on in your jurisdictions then why don't you vote them out of office. Better yet, run yourself! Instead of blaming everything on individuals. Once you get on the other side of the table and behind the scenes, you see what really goes on and why some things have to be done the way they are. There are higher levels of government that dictate mandates that have to be followed unless you don't want grant money to help reduce local tax rates. Educate yourselves on how local government works. Then comment intelligently.
