Governor Hogan, Lt. Governor Rutherford, Families Visit Maryland Food Bank
Pack Over 100,000 Meals For Those In Need

 

Annapolis, MD - Governor Larry Hogan and First Lady Yumi Hogan along with Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford and Monica Rutherford, teamed up with 400 volunteers from around the state last Sunday, January 25, to package meals for the Maryland Food Bank and the Howard County Food Bank.

 

The food packaging event, which took place in the gym at Howard Community College, was the last in a series of events surrounding the inauguration of the 62^nd Governor of the State of Maryland. Donning hair nets, the First Couple and the Rutherfords greeted guests and carefully packed macaroni and cheese packs in an assembly line fashion. 

 

“It's very satisfying to be able to give back to the community during this very busy time, especially in my home county,” said Lieutenant Governor Rutherford, a Howard County resident who used to teach a business ethics course at the community college. “We achieved our goal of packing 100,000 meals while also getting to know some very dedicated volunteers who made this important event such a success.”

 

Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman, the Governor and Lieutenant Governor’s staff, and members of the organization Outreach, Inc., also volunteered.
