I do not have the money to go out and eat. I have also not made any non-essential purchases (other than food) in over 3 years. No clothes, household items, etc. Welcome to the new world order - get used to it.
Might have something to do with the agents themselves. Not to get into specifics but some of which are touted as the up and coming business faces of the area. I had made up my mind to purchase a vacant commercial building. I had one in mind. It would have been an easy sale as no financing, no inspection, no contingencies whatsoever involved. Settlement ASAP which would have been in less than 2 wks because my lawyer's paralegal is excellent. The building was then to be turned over to a non profit to use for free for their operations.
Called listing agent and was told they have "multiple contracts" on the property and owners were going over them. This was a year ago and building is still for sale. I wouldn't buy it now, nor anything from this particular listing agent because I don't deal well with BS. I don't believe they had one contract much less "multiple."
I have been down there. The industrial park is a ghost town. I can remember when Burroughs, Sealy, and Salisbury Steel were down there. There was even a small café to serve the folks breakfast and lunch.
Reminds me of Alabama in 2008. Nothing but vacant commercial buildings. Hardly anybody working. Back then, somebody in our community was strong enough financially to buy a competitor. Not sure it's the same way now.
Oh this can't be! Didn't Jim Mathias call the lower shore economy "robust" recently? Come on, Senator, how about a letter to the editor here about how well we're all doing?
All of these buildings could be converted to affordable housing , all they have to do is install the following: 1. swimming pools 2. free flat screens 3. free buses to and from government buildings 4. transportation to and from stores 5. free health care facility on premises 6. free trash removal 7. free pit bulls

Thanks for sharing these. All I see around Salisbury anymore are empty buildings for lease, rent and some under the auction block!
Conway sign on one of the pictures was a nice touch!!!!

The people pictured in the first three are essentially the cuases of the remaining!
Sears is about to lay off 5500 employees nationwide. Rumor is the Sears store here is Salisbury is about to close. Not sure about Kmart.
As of October 22nd. ONO'S has closed.

The Uno's will become a Denny's per the news this morning? They both are (in Salisbury and Cambridge at least) owned by the same company - Rommel's.
Copart in Fruitland and Chesapeake homes gone also.

There is also the huge empty grocery store in the shopping center just before kohls empty for years and NOT ONE GOOD grocery store on the north end!
The one good grocery store on the north end is Wal-Mart!
