At least 17,316 American soldiers have been wounded in the Afghanistan war theater since Obama was inaugurated for his first term, according to a count maintained by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD).
Overall, according to the Pentagon, 20,017 United State troops have been wounded in action (WIA) since Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) began 13 years ago today.
OEF is the official name of the Afghanistan war theater, which also involves military operations in Guantanamo Bay (Cuba), Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Jordan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, the Philippines, Seychelles, Sudan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Yemen.
Most, just about all, OEF-related activity has taken place in Afghanistan.

While we're reading about Obama and war I'd like to share a little piece of information I learned recently about our POS in the WH.
He is actually related to the head warmonger himself, Dick Cheney.
Yep, you read that right, the POS Obama is an eighth cousin to the other POS, Dick Cheney.
According to Lynne Cheney, wife of Dick Cheney, while she was researching the Cheney family heritage she found that Barack Hussein Obama is a descendent of Mareen Duvall, a French Huguenot whose son married the granddaughter of Richard Cheney who had arrived in Maryland in the late 1650s from England.
I'll bet that makes the old ex-VP's ticker skip a tic-tock.
One of the earliest bloggers in SBY was the late William Duvall. He was unhappy at the distant relationship that linked him to OweBama.
And, re: the post. OweBama never had any taste for actually solving the Afghan problem. It was a convenient foil in his first campaign to generate some 'cred' by criticizing Bush for having pursued the 'wrong war' while contending that the issue was really in Afghanistan.
His commitment of additional forces to that theatre was entirely cynical. Just enough to look like an attempt at winning and with a preannounced date of withdrawal - never before in history of war but that's what the teleprompter told him to say.
Shameless self-promoter.
