You are a celebrity Joe. Someone dressed up like you for last night's 3rd Fri. When someone feels compelled to dress up as one for a Halloween celebration then you know in some way or another you are influential.

Wicomico Central just dispatched Paramedic 2 and Station 2 volunteers for the engine for a non breathing subject at Salisbury Nursing Home for a non breathing subject. Paramedic 2 responded and asked them to alert the paid fire engine crew out of Station 16. Paramedic 1 from Station 1 self dispatched themselves and responded. Engine 16-1 responded with 3 firemen. Engine 2 responded and they were cancelled by the paid fire engine crew from Station 16. So that left at least 7 paid fire and ambulance people at Salisbury Nursing Home with the non breathing person. Mind you this is a nursing home with many on duty medical staff including Nurses, Nursing Supervisors, LPN's, and even possibly a doctor in the house. So the excuse that firemen are EMT's don't cut it. Those nurses and LPN's deal with elderly and dead people every day. Most people go to a nursing home to die and they are expected to die so it's not like they are responding to save someone with a quality of life ahead of them. I know the paid firemen will say that every life is worth saving. So very true, but the two ambulances with the most qualified paramedics is all that was needed and much cheaper. The bottom line is there was no need for 2 ambulances and 2 fire trucks to respond to a non breathing subject at a medical facility where medical staff was already on scene. Not only is Rick Hoppes forcing out the volunteer firemen so is his paid staff. That ambulance crew did not have the authority to ask for a paid fire engine out of Station 16. Now the paid firemen from Station 16 "committed" themselves to the call in Station 2's territory they turned down a residential automatic fire alarm in their own fire district on Forest Lane. Then Paramedic 1 decided to leave the nursing home call and self dispatch themselves on the automatic fire alarm. Such foolishness. What a waste of your tax dollars and rogue leadership.

Please consider this a Letter to the Editor.

It's a way for them to justify their jobs and raise their call statistics.

9:59 AM sorry I missed your comment while sounding off to Joe and the Letter to the Editor person. That guy impersonating Joe down town last night was a hoot.

It is true Joe is a local celebrity, proven by the number of people who immediately recognized who the fellow was impersonating. But a celebrity is not always influential. The readers of this blog prove that hundreds of times daily, by showing they can only complain on a blog and are not influenced enough to demand answers from proper sources for all the dirt Joe works hard to dig up..

11:30, For what it's worth, Salisbury News has been recognized as the most influential political Blog in the state of Maryland and Delaware for many years. Even Governor O'Malley recognized that in a Press Conference a few years ago.

Since his discussion about us being #1, we have grown a thousand fold since then.

I'm not going to get into how influential we are but you are now seeing Most Wanted on all your news channels, pet finders and all kind of other things that came from Salisbury News.

I ran for Mayor with a Downtown Platform, look what's finally happening.

As for comments, wouldn't it be nice if all of them went your way or the way even WE would like. Unfortunately not everyone agrees.

HOWEVER, the Eastern Shore needs to learn to agree to disagree and STOP acting like the person you disagree with is the Anti Christ or as if they just killed your mother.

I disagree with my Wife and Children all the time, yet we're extremely happy and we all respect each other.
