STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION TO CLOSE RIGHT LANE ON EASTBOUND US 50 AT THE HARRY KELLEY DRAWBRIDGE FOR REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE

(August 12, 2014) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will close the right lane on eastbound US 50 (Ocean Gateway) prior to the Harry Kelley Bridge over the Sinepuxent Bay on Wednesday. Crews will close the right lane from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists may choose to use MD 90 as an alternate route.

The single lane closure is necessary for crews to make repairs and perform maintenance to the drawbridge, which will ensure proper operation of the bridge during openings and closings.

SHA’s contractor for the $5,000 repairs and maintenance is Covington Machine and Welding of Annapolis.

Gotta heavy up the plastic wire ties and bailing wire.

A realistic # of boats should be allowed to pass under that bridge once work has been completed.

Let's see, sticks, duct tape, rubber bands, glue, caulk, some paint, maybe some of these screws, a 2x4, more paint, putty, a drop cloth, wax, oil, three packs of shims, and damn, almost forgot the bubble gum! There! That's $5,000! Okay, close the lane and let's go fix it!
