Medical, Medical, Medical, but no fires. Where are the fires? Why can't we have just paid paramedics and allow the volunteer firemen to handle the fire calls. It would work with the right chief and mayor in office.

Structure fire Evans place.

VOLUNTEERS you get what you pay for!

Here's my question: So a fire truck is dispatched to a medical emergency to chase the ambulance because the Medics only ride in fire trucks, not ambulances, and this gets the flat spots off the fire truck tires. I'm all warm and fuzzy with that part.

My question is, on the way back, why does the fire truck have to chase the ambulance all the way back to the hospital?

I guess there's no medical personnel at the hospital? Ambulance drivers aren't trained to deliver patients to the E.R.?

I"m dying for this explanation...

I must have heard the same call as you did last night. They said they were going to PRMC to help with patient lifting. Now it was on a bariatric patient but why wouldn't PRMC have someone there to help? How is PRMC going to move them once the firemen are gone?

714, no, I don't waste my time with a scanner to listen to; I have a life, and it doesn't involve chasing around with others. I lead on my own. And maybe at a stretch the bariatric excuse may work, but I'm talking EVERY TIME.

PRMC is the largest employer on the Eastern Shore and they can supply personnel to assist in unloading the patients. They just don't because idiots like Salisbury respond there to do it for them.

PRMC does not allow their employees to lift large patients from ambulances. Many years ago they did at times, but liability has caused this new policy. The old days are gone forever.

There was a structure fire on Evans Place around 1 a.m. The residents at this home were glad to have firemen. The only volunteers to respond were 4 from station 1, 2 from station 2 20 minutes into the call and 0 from station 16.

anonymous 10:00, That's because Station 16 DISCOURAGES ANY Volunteers from joining.

Ah! No Mr. Know It All. Station 16 has switched to an hours program and don't require members to respond when there is a real fire. Even before the switch they rarely got out. When you put a firehouse in that location nobody is going to come. Leaving Downtown and an Hours Program has been the death of Station 16 volunteers.
