This is from yesterday's Wall Street Journal:
...Shanghai Husi repackaged and sold chicken and beef past their sell-by dates.
Shanghai's FDA found that beef patties produced in May 2013 were sold with the production date of January 2014....

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is about to allow U.S chickens to be sent to China for processing and then shipped back to the U.S. for human consumption.
This arrangement is particularly alarming given China’s appalling food safety record and the fact that there will be no on-site USDA inspectors in those plants....
This process is already being used for U.S. seafood....
Considerably lower Chinese labor costs are what make the arrangement profitable, even when factoring in round-trip shipping costs over 14,000 miles.

Perdue exports chicken to China:
1. Our Export Department was formed in 1991 and in 1997 we opened our first overseas office in Hong Kong. Just one year later, in 1998, we began a joint venture project in China.

2. Leaders from Perdue Farms and the Commonwealth of Virginia expect to see chicken exports increase dramatically as China’s seven-year-old [avian influenza] ban on poultry from Virginia comes to an end....

What's on your plate?:
Did that chicken on your plate come from China? There may be no way of knowing for sure, thanks to existing U.S. food labeling rules.

What's on plates in U.S. schools?:
Because no country-of-origin labeling is required on products containing Chinese-processed chicken, only school districts which expressly obligate vendors to use 100% domestically processed chicken will know exactly what they’re serving to kids.

THIS is what your "leaders" have given you. But not "your guy", of course. Bribes NEVER would influence HIM. HE (or she) loses sleep at night wondering how he can make your life better. He doesn't eat any chicken, though.
Do ANY of you think these money-grabbing, holier-than-thou, slimy, sneaky, underhanded bastids have an OUNCE of concern for you? Or your children?
Keep cheering and keep thinking that "your guy" is looking out for you, your interests, or even America itself.
Whats it going to take? One of your kids dying? Most of your family? Maybe your mom in the nursing home, who is being served the cheapest food that can be bought (which comes from ......China)???????
Keep believing that anything other than the complete eradication of the whole group of "leaders" will solve or change your position as a sacrificial slug to them.
Picture your kid coughing up blood and the doctor telling you there's nothing that can be done.
Thats what I call motivation.
Keep cheering, you moronic imbeciles....
Chicken has been exported to China, Russia, etc. for the last 15 years lets get something new to complain about.
9:29....I was specifically referring to you, it seems.
What? Are you a Perdue executive?
Fake production dates of a YEAR is nothing to worry about?
No problem there??
Maybe you're a politician hoping that no one gets alarmed or raises a fuss.
Or you don't eat chicken, either.
EXPORTING chicken isn't the issue, anyway (nice try).
It's IMPORTING it back here thats the issue. Stay focused and stick to the truth.
I really feel bad for anyone who has to eat Perdue and any other industrial raised "meat." My dog isn't even allowed to eat it much less my family. People worry more about what they put into their vehicles and it's a darn shame.
Big deal, Perdue exports chicken to China. Americans like white meat, Chinese like dark meat and chicken feet.
If exports are not a big deal, why does this story contain so much information about Perdue's exports?
Agreed, however, that I don't want to eat chicken processed in China.
Oh 9:59 I'm not a Perdue Exc. although I did work for them for a while, but I spent 40 years in the poultry business and am now retired and doing quite well here in Salisbury. There are many folks who owe a lot to the poultry businesses on the Shore and off the Shore. I don't want processed chicken coming back to the US either without strict guidelines. Try to remember Perdue isn't the only poultry company on the Shore and I support them all...if they have a branded product I eat it!
Raise my own chickens, pigs and cow (And various other meat animals). Produce my own meats, raw milk, cheeses, veggies, and some grains. All on 2 acres.
if you want to trade for some of the stuff you raised let me know.
Perdue has Country of Origin Labeling and has for some time. You can tell that the Perdue chicken in the meat case is from the United States because of this. If you also look at the USDA shield there will be a plant number in it. This means that the product was processed at this plant. You need to stay focused and learn the truth.
