Where is None who always says thank you for your service? Trying to do damage control because the city of Salisbury does not need to be paying over 65 people to sit around and do nothing 24 hours a day. The tax payers can't afford to see fire trucks chasing ambulance calls because there aren't no fires.
@3:05
Your ignorance about how the SFD works is amazing. Especially since you continue to post your uniformed responses. To those in the know you really do come off as a fool.
Those 65 employees include administrative employees, chief, deputy chief, assistant chiefs, firefighter/paramedics, and firefighter EMTs. There is never 65 employees being paid at the SFD on any given day. The assistant chiefs, firefighter/paramedics, and firefighter/EMTs are broken up into four different 24hr shifts (A,B,C,D). There is also a Monday-Friday 7a-5p truck crew at station 2.
Oh and about those medical assists that you all believe are self dispatched; those are Delta & Eco level calls, which are calls of the highest severity. Nearly every single station in the county has a medical assist issued for any Delta or Eco call. SFD is not unique in this, nearly every single station does it.
None don't forget the daily apparatus checks and repairs on them that save the taxpayers thousands in cost. Daily training, public education, tours and cleaning don't leave much time for sitting around The usual comments here are certainly a result of a lack of knowledge of the business. Good points.
@9:57,
Exactly, I did EMT and Paradmedic clinical rides with Salisbury and noticed that they are given so many collateral duties that they practically don't get a chance to even sit down or relax until some time in the evening. Especially at 16. From my understanding the lounge room at 16 is off limits until after around 5-6pm.
It just irritates me so much to see so many sheeple commenting on something they know nothing about and believe every twisted "truth" posted about the SFD.

Why are daily checks necessary if most of the equipment isn't used. Boy you people are dumb. Daily training is bogus and public education is rarely done. Tours are rarely done and cleaning isn't that much. If you have crews that clean every day where does all that dirt come from? I call BULLSH!T on this one. You say all this doesn't leave much time for sitting around. BULLSH!T again. The firefighters get caught sleeping on the sofas and recliners all the time. Just ask any volunteer or visitor of the stations. What about night time does this training, public education, tours and cleaning still go on? Nope, time to eat dinner, ride to Rita's, watch tv and get ready to turn in for the night. No more ambulance chasing unless dispatched. You two clowns are playing damage control.
@ 1:09
Again, I have never applied for SFD. They pay below the national average for FF/paramedics, run well over the national average EMS calls, and haven't given raises in 5-7 years.
You certainly show your class with name calling.
@ 1:17
Every career side EMS and fire department does daily checks. You certainly want to make sure that you have all of your equipment and that it is operational before you end up in a situation where you need it yet you don't have it.
Since you don't believe what has been posted here then you should schedule a 12hr ride along so that you can actually become informed before you make another ignorant response.
