The one of a kind John Wayne Museum in Bowie, Maryland is in financial trouble and in danger of closing.
Bill Atkins, the owner, joins Maryland's Morning News to discuss the financial situation of the museum dedicated to one of Hollywood's biggest stars.
The eight-year-old museum costs Atkins, who is also a real estate broker, about $20,000 a year. "It's become a little bit of a burden to keep it open," he says.
He hopes to save the collection of John Wayne memorabilia by getting corporate sponsors and rounding up donations.

Same thing will happen to that Bible museum in DC and then they will be turning to the government to help them out.
What happens after awhile is the IRS starts considering this business as a hobby. This is why all the car museums in Lancaster county PA ended up closing. They can't write it off as a loss after so long. While these museums are hobbies and usually operate at a loss they do produce a few jobs which help to stimulate local economies.
Please consider the go fund me page of Facebook...then it can run on donations and the irs should leave it alone. You can set it as a non profit. The only actor I ever wanted to meet was John Wayne!
