Hartly Man Charged with 9th Offense DUI

Hartly, DE - The Delaware State Police arrested a Hartly man Sunday afternoon for a 9thoffense DUI.

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. yesterday after a trooper was dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of Myers Drive for a report of a truck broke down in the driveway. Upon the troopers arrival, it was determined that Dale A. Guifoil, 51 of Hartly, was attempting to leave a yard sale at that address when a mechanical issue with his truck prevented him from leaving. An odor of alcohol was detected on Guifoil as the trooper was talking to him while he was seated in the driver’s seat of the truck and a DUI investigation ensued.

Guifoil was subsequently taken into custody and transported back to Troop 3 where an inquiry into his driving record revealed eight previous DUI convictions (07/29/93, 09/07/93, 12/05/94, 02/04/02, 03/10/03, 09/15/04, 09/04/08, and 12/18/09); this arrest would make #9.

Dale Guifoil was charged with Felony DUI (Alcohol), Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription (Oxycodone), Driving While Suspended or Revoked, Failure to Have Insurance in Possession, Fictitious Registration, and Operation of an Unregistered Motor Vehicle. He was arraigned at JP3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $10,650.00 secured bond.

In just a few minutes a state such as Delaware or Md could print out everyone who has multiple DUI's.We could care less about people with 1 or 2,but when they amass 3+ it's time to be concerned. We seriously do need to know who they are and where they live. And yes,I realize that is a matter of public record, but it would take years to look each person up.We need a registry.

How about a follow-up on this character with information on how jail time he gets for this?

Delaware is supposed to have cracked down on such individuals. A follow-up would prove whether or not this is true ...

Is he the new record holder? BRAVO! I think the most I've seen on here is 8, but I could be wrong. I guess they won't let him register a vehicle, so he just drives unregistered, without a license. Going for his tenth now. Hope the Guinness Book is ready for a new record holder! After all, it's named after an alcoholic beverage!

If you have 3 DUI's then they need to be put on a list just like sex offenders, only publish them in the newspaper, and put them on the internet, and billboards along the interstate!!

Lol at DUI registry, guess everyone forgets that distracted drivers are killing more people on the road then drunks. Time to start stiffing their sentences and crying for a registry!!!
