Gun Madness at the State Line

Why do states treat ordinary citizens as gun criminals?

Earlier this year, a 27-year-old medical professional named Shaneen Allen drove peacefully out of her home state of Pennsylvania and into neighboring New Jersey. Today, she faces the prospect of three years in prison.

When she crossed the state line, Allen was carrying a concealed weapon. “I work two jobs and I work late, and getting up at that time of night I got robbed twice last year,” Allen told MY9NJ’s Bill Anderson. A friend recommended that she get herself a concealed-carry permit. This she did, fulfilling not only the requirements established by the state of Pennsylvania but the tougher restrictions that her city of Philadelphia imposes on top. Pulled over near the border by New Jersey police for an “unsafe lane change,” Allen informed officers that she was carrying a pistol. Her honesty landed her in serious trouble. Immediately, she was arrested and charged with both illegal possession of a firearm and possession of hollow-point ammunition. It was, her lawyer, Evan F. Nappen, tells me over the phone, “the most technical of errors. She thought her permit was treated like a driver’s license and was valid everywhere. And why wouldn’t you?”

It is a damn shame, but true. Concealed carry even within a state is like walking through a checkerboard as to where it's ok and not ok, and WTH do you do with the danged thing in between is a royal pain, and that's the goal here.

You can keep your right to carry if you like it, but just not here. And here. And here. And here.

Police do not have this problem, though.

I wonder why not?

Being educated as to the laws of various jurisdictions is the responsibility of the CC permit gun owner. Living in Delmar, DE necessitates a lot of thought and care as a simple trip to Delmar, MD without adjusting gun storage can result in breaking the law. If this lady thought carrying legally in one state meant she was legal in all, then the education required in PA must not be very good!!

Police officers in the state of PA are not permitted to carry their duty firearm in the state of NJ or NY.

Because the Second Amendment is no longer a right --- its a "priviledge" that your "leaders" "grant" you, like slaves on a plantation allowed to drink from the massa's well.
Some of us don't think we need ANYONE'S "permission".
The rest of you? Don't make eye contact with the masters, shuffle along and shut the hell up.
The New Jersey prosecutors, States Attorney and all the New Jersey politicians SURROUND themselves with military equipped armed guards who WILL kill you for a wrong move.
YOU and I, however, are on our own. Thats their "leadership".
They don't see any irony in their position.
Hang each and every one of those slimy thieves. They are putting good, hard working citizens in prison and giving illegal immigrants free housing, plane fares, food, medical care, and loving tenderness (paid for by the hardworking citizens).
They don't see any irony in THAT either.
Thomas Jefferson was a prophetic genius.
