When you are elderly but not old enough to retire and there are no jobs available, what choice do they have?

Some countries use their citizens on disability for human shields in wartime.Strange how so few apply...

This doesn't say much for our country that over 10 million people physically can't work. I know 2 people personally who are on disability and under 50 years old. Both of them can work, it may not be what they want to do, but they are capable of desk work, and choose to wait on their check. One even told me that she can work part time and receive some income without disrupting her disability benefit. WTF? If you can work part time then you are not disabled, no? The two that I personally know have worked so hard at finding a way not to work that it is ridiculous. Lazy ass people. I work full time and a part time job to support my family. Sure I could probably drop one job and collect food stamps and assistance, but as the old song goes "God Bless the Child who HAS HIS OWN." And have mercy my aging body as well as the user's souls. It was mind boggling to me to learn that you can WORK AND STILL GET DISABILITY. Seriously? I want to know which dumbass voted that in so we can vote him/her out.

Way too many voted in favor of this 10:44-Almost impossible to vote them all out because both sides of the aisle took part in it.

I know a fat blogger that can blog all day and collect "disability," food stamps and welfare, but he is to lazy to work.

If they are truly disabled and paid into the system I don't have a problem with it.

my ex-friend actually filed under problems with his back. his lawyer told him that he needed to file under mental issues because it was easier to get disability for mental health. the lawyer actually sent him to a counselor who decided he had all kinds of crap, depression, bipolar, you name it. He was fine until then. yes, he had back pain but who doesn't? Getting a job would probably cure the depression-just saying.

Wake up folks.. this is by design. They will continue to vote for the socialist so that they won't lose their free ride.

I know someone that is truly disabled and he wants to work but can't. He is in his 60's and has worked since he was 13. It drove him nuts not to be able to go to work everyday, people like that deserve it. These other lazy people that use it just to sit on their butts I think should be re-evaluated quarterly because I can bet there is nothing wrong with them.

back pain is not aches and pains, that most experience now and then. back pain lasts more that 6 months, won't let you lift anything and if you do you will pay for it with more pain.

back pain is you need injections, operations and narcotics to curb the pain, curb not get rid of, so you function a little.

waking up with a stiff back and taking some Tylenol is not disabling back pain.

How many of those checks are going to parents to pay them simply for raising their kids with disabilities who also get a check. Some families have multiple children on SSDI,don't believe me,go to the check cashing place when the checks come out.

I have no idea. I don't know if people get a check because their kids are disabled. I do know I will not go to any check cashing place and look over anyone's shoulder to see what kind of check they are cashing or the amount of any check.

But that's just me. Some nosy people might do all of that.
