The Maryland Energy Administration announced more than $9 million in energy efficiency grants for its “EmPOWER Clean Energy Communities” grant program Tuesday.
According to a Maryland Energy Administration news release, the program assists local governments and non-profit organizations with funding energy efficiency projects specifically designed to assist low to moderate income individuals.
With the grants, around 5,000 Maryland households will save on electricity and natural gas costs each year, resulting in more than $1 million saved annually, the release said.

This is flat out a lie. I can prove that the revenue is going to the power companies for them to distribute, and there will be no way to trace the spending.
So, spend 9 million to save one million.
Okay.
Why not just do nothing?
That would save 9 million.
DUH.
