Education Issues

Maryland continues to have an excellent education system in most jurisdictions. Funding for schools has risen dramatically over the last ten years. The list below illustrates the current spending per pupil. These amounts do not include the funds spent on capital projects (buildings, fields, etc.).

Rank County $

#1. Worcester Co $17,086 per pupil

#2. Baltimore City $16,904 per pupil

#4. Montgomery $15,619 per pupil

#11. Baltimore Co $13,960 per pupil

#20. Harford Co $12,934 per pupil

#24. St. Mary's Co $12,407 per pupil

The amounts spent per pupil are ridiculous and absurd everywhere. It should be about 1/4 of that.

How much per pupil at Salisbury Christian School?

Yes and the tuition at Holly Grove is less than $5,000.00 per year and a higher percentage of these students go to college than do most of these government school students. And capital projects are paid from the tuition

If the state would let us do something about the behavior in the classroom, children who have some "home training" wouldn't have to deal with those that have no "home training". Parents don't want to be embarrassed by their children being kicked out of private school. Public school, they know can't do anything about it. Thank you big government.

Cost per pupil in public school would be far lower if kids who won't learn and won't behave could be kicked out like they can in private school. The amount spent on a small segment of the population enrolled in public schools is ludicrous, and there is no result.

I say give that amount to parents and let them decide where there kids want to go to school. Tax vouchers for everyone. If the parents decide to go to public schools then they don't get the voucher it's just a wash.
