These are all ambulance or EMS calls. I want a Mayor and City Council that will wake up and do something about this corruption in the Salisbury Fire Department. This city can not afford to pay for a mostly all paid fire department.
And now Jim Ireton and Jake Day want the tax payers to pay a rain tax. You people are idiots.

You must be a paid fireman that thinks you deserve the right to get paid to sleep at night when you are supposedly working. Paid fireman in Salisbury have the best jobs on the Eastern Shore. Where else can you pick and choose ambulance calls you want to chase all day and sleep all night. That is a fact the paid firemen don't self dispatch their fire trucks on ambulance calls at night because it might mess up their sleep. They have to be rested up for their second jobs the next day. That's why they all have nice 4 wheel drive pickup trucks.
What, no Pro Qa's??? Didn't anyone tell them Paul's Pizza opened back up on College Ave. @ Rt. 12?

10:53...Not advocating for paid vs. volunteer but I counted 3 CO/smoke detector activations, one automatic alarm, and 2 PI Motor Vehicle accidents. How do you figure that these are EMS and not fire calls?

PI means Personal Injury. What part of injury is not medical?
3 smoke alarms = 3 false alarms. Doesn't require a full time paid fire department.
I bet you don't pay taxes in the City of Salisbury.
I don't get this daily carping over a paid fire department. It's like everyone wants fires every day to justify their existence. A fire department is like insurance. I've paid homeowners insurance premiums for over 25 years and never filed a claim. Would I stop paying? Never. Because you just never know what might happen.. I'm delighted that we have a paid fire department and am happy to contribute my bit to it.

Your concern for how city tax dollars is spent is
Admirable however griping about it here is not going to institute change in city hall without your voice being heard during a city council meeting. You and others like you are an embarrassment to the democratic form of government. Oh and I am not a Salisbury City resident nor a paid firefighter. Doubtful this comment/reply makes it through censorship but we'll see.
