Mr. Finch has been a member of the Aviation Command for over 30 years. During his tenure he has served as an Aviation Trauma Technician (precursor to Flight Paramedic), Pilot, Sergeant, Instructor Pilot and Civilian Pilot. In 2013 he was named the Lead Instructor Pilot for the statewide transition into the new, state of the art, AgustaWestland AW139 multi-mission helicopter. In this role he was responsible for drafting a training syllabus and training manual in compliance with FAA guidelines and coordinating the training of line pilots on the new AW139 helicopter. As a result of his tireless work and dedication to duty, MSPAC has transitioned three helicopter sections into the new helicopter with the fourth transition beginning earlier this week in St. Mary’s County. With Mr. Finch’s efforts across the state, MSPAC continues to serve the citizens of Maryland with the most advanced and capable multi-mission helicopter available. This training is the highlight of Mr. Finch’s 40 years of dedication to state of Maryland.

There must be a mandatory retirement age like the rest of the MSP must comply with.
This man gave 40 years to the state of Maryland and that's the best comment you can muster up? Almost all of his service has been saving the lives of crash victim, performing searches and being a PR person on demonstrations of every helicopter the state has owned. What part of CIVILIAN did you not understand? Civilians in MSP fall under the same statutes as any other state employee. Only sworn Troopers are forced to retire at 60. The man deserves every bit of gratitude and acknowledgement he is given. Congrats Stan!!!

Actually I did not intend to offend anyone.I used to go to the same inservices Stan went to and I retired 3 years ago.Stan was considerably older than I was.And yes we are very lucky to have him.
nothing directed to this man--but I read an additional article--he retired as a pilot-Sgt and collects a retirement check--he then comes back as a citizen pilot and collects another government paycheck--at the same time he works for the Sheriff office and collects his THIRD government paycheck while probably become eligible for Another retirement check!! WOW!!
Finch is a good man - known him a long time. Those of us who know him know full well the work he put in on training and guidelines for the new helicopters. If myself or a loved one needed the help I can only hope stan is in the pilot seat.
He also puts in countless hours as a VOLUNTEER with pocomoke fire Dept and works his butt off every July 4th weekend down there with their famous b-b-q chicken fundraiser.
Stan is not as old as he looks. he just started working at an early age.
