PJM Asks Consumers To Conserve Electricity On Tuesday

Record-breaking electricity use possible tomorrow due to extreme cold weather

VALLEY FORGE, Pa., Jan. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- PJM Interconnection, the electricity grid operator for more than 61 million people in 13 states and the District of Columbia, is asking consumers to conserve electricity on Tuesday. The call for conservation is prompted by another wave of frigid weather that will push up the demand for electricity.

The request is being made throughout the entire area served by PJM. The demand for electricity and the need for conservation is expected to be highest Tuesday evening.

More

Joe,
Here is a notice from PJM asking folks to conserve for the next few days. I work in a power plant and know how serious the fuel supply has become. The drivers bringing our fuel are telling me that fuel oil supplies are very limited. Power plants have resorted to burning liquid fuels instead of natural gas because there isn't enough. The notice that PJM has sent out for consumers to conserve, is the next step before energy will be cut to the customers. PJM is the Mid Atlantic electric controller in Valley Forge, Pa.

Please note, for all the anti smart meter people, they will shut your power off even if you have the old meters.

Yeah but they will shut you down first 1:15.

2:42 You're a idiot! when they shut a grid down, they don't care if you care if you have a smart meter or not.

This means all those folks who still have those "smart thermostats" will notice their house getting C-O-L-D this evening ....

Your right Daddio, anyone stupid enough to sign up for the energy savings option with the power company will see there electric cycled.
It has nothing to do with if you have a smart meter or not.

Anyone with Energywise....you will probably be cold cause they can cycle you . Ask me how I know? cause they shut ours off last cold spell when it was 8 degrees. I came out of that program the next day! Don't want them controlling my thermostat in the winter.

electric companies need to upgrade so their systems can take the "hit". Goodness knows they charge us enough!

My electric has been "cycled" for quite a time now. No smart meter. Whom do "they" think they're kidding?
