SNOW HILL — The removal of some “zero tolerance” discipline policies from schools statewide could become a reality by the end of the month, resulting in a mixed local reaction with the Worcester County Board of Education taking a generally positive view, while at least one County Commissioner has labeled the changes “scary”.
A new, statewide Student Code of Conduct has been under development by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) for more than two years. The public comment period for the draft ended last week. However, it seems to have flown under the radar locally and the announcement that the regulations could soon be adopted caused County Commissioner Virgil Shockley no small amount of alarm.
“You’ve got a situation where now you’re putting bus drivers, aides, teachers, principals really, really in danger,” said Shockley, a school bus contractor as well as a farmer.

You tell them Virgil. I agree completely. Both my children graduated from Snow Hill High School and I loved how kids were challenged for cussing in the hall, let alone the serious infractions mentioned in this article.
These people are crazy as hell. No problem, then I will teach my children how to take matters into their own hands if necessary. I remember if we challenged authority in school then you were immediately sent to the principal's office in high school. In middle school the paddle was used b the immediate teacher in the hallway-yes, there was one teacher in particular who was paddle-happy unfortunately, but I tell you that everyone in his class was on their p's and q's.
This is what I've been trying to tell everyone! Everyone in their ultimate wisdom says "suspend suspend suspend." Bottom line is schools can't.
This is the democrat solution to lower the suspension rate. Instead of reducing the incidences they just made it harder to suspend a student, thereby lowering the rate and making themselves look good with another platform to brag on.
The fault also lies with the school's administrators who are in cahoots with the politicians. Instead of standing up for what is right for the students and school staff, they run around with their heads shoved up the butts of the politicians because they think it's some kind of honor to be a principal or other admin.
Parents of kids who are assaulted need to start filing some lawsuits. When repeat offenders are allowed to prey on new victims, that might be somebody's idea of education, but it's not mine.
This week alone at Wicomico High School has seen one female vice principal taken to the ER after being assaulted by 3 male students, another female vice principal threatened by a female student coming across the desk, and a male student injured after being attacked by a female student. Just another week in the life of teachers!

Wi-Hi this year has all female VPs; very nice individuals but the thug mentality seeks out those weaker, in whatever dimension.
The facts are the facts despite what OweBama, Holder and OweMalley are trying to do with wishful thinking.
