COUNTY DRUG TASK FORCES NOW LED BY LOCAL POLICE, NOT TROOPERS

ANNAPOLIS – Maryland State Police have transferred the administration of county-wide drug task forces to local police, but some lawmakers are concerned about the impact on local law enforcement.

Maryland State Police representatives discussed the change Friday with members of the Eastern Shore delegation and Caroline County officials.

The reorganization, implemented in March 2013, allows the state police to operate on a regional level in order to pursue drug suppliers that are located across county lines.

The decision was department-wide and divided the state into five regions of operation. It was implemented in an attempt to create more effective task forces, said Maryland State Police spokeswoman Elena Russo.

Wow. Will someone explain how the division of units/agencies could be beneficial? How will this improve communication and information sharing?

This is why crime never is reduced.

Crime reduction starts with parenting. Nice %85 of parents nowadays refuse to be just that, crime will never change.

Interesting... there was an article about a local business man who took an Alfred plea on drugs when for at least the last 20 years everyone in town knew he was selling and using. There are people in this town that are KNOWN for being criminal but because they live in the higher rent section...nothing is done. If I thought it would do any good I would go to the local police and give them a list... but they already know... I don't shee how they cannot know.

Local police do not need the State police to give them information anymore.
The NSA is doing it now with specific instructions for police and prosecutors to construct "parallel investigations" so as not to admit they are violating the constitution with illegal searches and clandestine acquisition of information.
The NSA memo was entitled "the planned programmed perjury policy".
They use computer programs to cull millions of text messages and listen to recorded phone calls at high speed and flag illegal behavior patterns and keywords for further discretion, then report it to local law enforcement. They get the information THEN go before a judge to get the warrant. Horses pushing carts. It's called the neo-police state. If you've committed a crime they'll come get you for it eventually as they already have the evidence. LOL.
DUH... doesn't everyone know that?
Why do you think Obama pushed the Obama phone plan? To listen for crime! Now he can order scrutiny of political enemies and serious crime whenever he decides too. It's the perfect totalitarian police state system.
There not catching terrorists so they are using it to fight petty crime at their political discretion.
If you don't believe it you're a compete naive imbecile.
