Unless someone out there carries a gun loaded with silver bullets most of us don't need to know. The need to know basis applies to anyone who can actually make a difference.Scaring everyone to death is reducing their quality of life and therefore unnecessary.

And who are you to decide what we need to know
Hide the bad? Only report on the good? Shiny happy people holding hands?
Go live in Disney World, I've got a life to live, and I want to know EVERYTHING.
That's why the founding fathers passed the first amendment, so people can access knowledge that empowers their informed decision
this person doesnt want to see it coming because they are too scared to defend themselves better off just dying without knowing
What an utterly asinine comment. If this person doesn't care about their family then so be it but there are many caring mothers, fathers, husbands, etc who like to know what is going on crimewise so they can warn their family. Especially teenagers who never think it can happen to them. They need to know things aren't all perfect and their are people out their who wish to harm. You can tell them until the cows come home, but when they read or hear about it in their own community makes them more careful.
Stupid. Sounds like something they got off of Moveon.org's Talking Points of the Day. Translated means keep them uninformed.
