A reward leading to the arrest and conviction of a person or persons who intentionally set a speed camera on fire in Smithsburg last week has been increased from $500 to $1,000, the town police chief said.
Police Chief George Knight said Thursday that the police department and OptoTraffic Inc. are raising the reward.
A tire on the portable speed-camera trailer — set up at 66 N. Main St. in front of the Smithsburg school complex — was set ablaze the night of Oct. 5, according to a news release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.

MUST HAVE BEEN LIGHTNING.
Trick Or Treat!
If I knew who did it, I wouldn't tell
So there was $100 worth of damage and they are offering a $1000 reward?
Exactly what is the reward for burning one of those things?
LOL! Lightning is my bet! You could offer a million, but the act has it out priced at "Priceless"!
All mouths will be silent on this one!
