New World Trade Center Blasted As A Disaster

Banksy, the elusive British artist nearing the end of a month-long New York City residency, published an op-ed column slamming the design of One World Trade Center, the 104-story skyscraper scheduled to be opened on the World Trade Center site next year.

"As a visitor staying New York for the past few weeks one thing has become very clear to me," Banksy wrote in the op-ed. "You've got to do something about the new World Trade Center. That building is a disaster. Well no, disasters are interesting. One World Trade centre is a non-event. It's vanilla. It looks like something they would build in Canada."

"The attacks of September 11th were an attack on all of us and we will live out our lives in their shadow," Banksy continued. "But it's also how we react to adversity that defines us. And the response? 104 floors of compromise?"

Banksy, the "Artist" that sprays graffiti. His opinion matters to me about as much as the wino who lives in a cardboard box behind the grocery store.

His opinion might not matter to you. But he still correct .

8:34, Absolutely, call me un-patriotic all you want but the new building is hardly inspiring.

You need a building to inspire you 8:46? It is an object, nothing more. People inspire.

Just maye Bansky should return to Britain and solve their problems and then he can come back and give his unsolicited opinion.

I just went to NYC and ground zero 9/11 memorial this past weekend. I felt moved by it all including the building. As with everything you can never please everyone.

9:28, people certainly can inspire, but God has given gifts and talents to people to do different jobs and careers. our architectural "history" shows us how people used their talents to showcase their work.

all you have to do is travel world wide or look at books with pictures to see this.

it's quite obvious the new world trade center is bland at best. such a shame since i'm sure someone else could have done a much better job. something we could be proud of...

It is also a memorial to those that died--shame on you, the pictures and memorials inside should inspire us all.

I guess the reflecting pool with the names of all who perished doesn't mean a thing. Wait until the museum opens under the building. From what I've seen it is a masterpiece in itself. Even has steel beams from the original towers.
Anon 12:01 - you are so right.
