Next WCTP Meeting Thursday, Sep 26th: Freedomworks Jeff Scully & Brittany Hemsath on Common Core Join the WCTP and Freedomworks for an informative meeting on Common Core.   Freedomworks has been fighting Common Core on a national level.  Jeff Scully and Brittany Hemsath, a former teacher, from Freedomworks will bring us up to date on Common Core in Maryland, the dangers of Common Core, and help us organize a statewide resistance. Thursday, Sept 26th at 7pm Doors open at 6:30pm Ocean Pines Community Center 239 Ocean Parkway Ocean Pines, MD 21811 Freedomworks Common Core Fails Website: http://commoncore.fwsites.org/ Oppose US Involvement in Syria Oppose any American involvement in the Syrian war.  Yes, people died in a chemical attack and yes, some of them were children, but the United States has ignored similar tragedies in other countries.  What about the children who have died as a result of our drone attacks?  If the main reason for America getting involved is to stop horrible atrocities, perhaps we should first review some of our own policies.  We cannot afford another war. Our armed forces are already stretched and 12 years of war and deployments have put an immeasurable burden on them. Thousands have lost their lives, while countless others suffer from physical and mental problems.  If we really want to support our troops we should oppose any involvement in Syria.  Our military has given enough.  Finally, the most obvious reason to oppose involvement in Syria is that both sides are bad.  President Obama wants to disarm President Assad by supporting the Free Syrian Army, who is aligned with Al Qaeda.  Are we seriously talking about supporting the same terrorists we are currently fighting them in Iraq and Afghanistan? It’s almost comical. Let’s not forget the almost 4,500 Americans who have died since the war on terror began or the over 32,000 who have been wounded.  These soldiers were told that Al Qaeda was the enemy.  If the United States turned around and gave any aid of any kind to rebels who collaborate or, as some sources will tell you, are led by the very group our nation has been fighting so hard to eradicate, it would dishonor those Americans' sacrifice.  "No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare. A Wounded Warrior Fundraiser will be held this Friday, Sept 20th at the Ocean Pines Community Center from 4-7pm.  The event features two live bands and a complete BBQ platter with iced tea costs $10.  Please attend and support this worthy organization.
