Resort Bank Robber Surrenders To FBI In Missouri
The man suspected of robbing the Susquehanna Bank back on July 24 was apprehended yesterday near St. Louis.
Nicknamed the “I-55 Bandit” for his penchant for hitting banks along the busy corridor, Andrew Maberry, 19, is suspected of robbing as many as 10 banks in five states -- Illinois, Missouri, Maryland, West Virginia and Tennessee. He reportedly turned himself in to FBI authorities in St. Louis and has been charged with at least one count of bank robbery at this time.
On July 24, in the heart of the summer season in Ocean City, Maberry, pictured on a bank surveillance camera, was able to evade authorities after presenting a note to a teller and leaving with an undisclosed amount of money. According to resort police, the suspect parked his vehicle in the area of West Biscayne Drive and Arctic Avenue prior to the bank robbery.
