A possible lightning strike has forced BWI Marshall Airport officials to suspend all flights.
In a Twitter message, operations in the air traffic control tower were suspended because of lightning in the area.
Sky Team 11 Captain Roy Taylor, who is flying over the scene, says power has been knocked out to the air traffic control tower, meaning air traffic controllers cannot talk to pilots.
Taylor says the outage was caused by a microburst, or some kind of weather event in the area.
